@cornered
Far better than the original. Because Kelly knows how to sing properly.
@thewebrecluse
That sounds fantastic!
@Wbtphdjd
But since you went there, I'll make another possibly controversial statement.
If we're talking Bach, St. John Passion is a better overall work than St. Matthew Passion.
@Wbtphdjd
Go listen to it and then tell me I'm wrong.
Prepare to be transported.
This is, IMO, the most stunningly beautiful music for Passion Week ever written. (Sorry, JSB.) This performance is one of my top favorite albums of all time, dare I say better than any Russian choir I've heard perform this piece.

It's that time when the Jesus memes pop up.
I love a *good* joke. Being a Christian is bizarre and often genuinely funny. Especially to those who don't share my beliefs.
I have one request:
Please keep it lighthearted and act with some kindbess, folks. Consider the many here for whom #Easter is genuinely an important festival.
Thank you xxx
@Render
I would say Deion.
What is "Apotome" ?
A browser-based tool for exploring, creating, hearing, and playing microtonal tuning systems.
A lot to explore start here, and then play with it yourself.

Thanks; I'll have to check these out. Did you see my post yesterday on the Ableton tuning systems site?
@corlin
FTR, I consider your ear to be very sharp based on our conversations. It may be more from experience than formal training, but training can only bring you so far. You are an extremely perceptive listener.
@corlin
Well Jacob's parts are partially digitally manipulated. As crazy as his vocal range is, there's things that are not possible with one human voice. And he uses microtonal techniques from time to time.
As far as JI, you may be right. That wouldn't be a new thing. In my undergrad program, the head of the early music department came in to work with the choir I sang in to retune us for Renaissance polyphony, and he told us that certain intervals would definitely be JI.
Jacob Collier's new arrangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of his best yet. And the best part is Tori Kelly's phenomenal solo starting at about 3:30. I don't know how I had not heard her before, but she is easily one of the most skilled pop vocalists in recent years:
Lest you think this is all autotuned, be prepared to have your mind blown:

Looking sharp, John!
@Jene_Sais_Quoi
I had them once, many years ago. Best county fair snack ever.
@99reasons4truth
Absolutely would try them. I had churros soaked in Jack Daniels, wrapped in bacon, and then fried a second time at a festival once. Spectacular.

This is HUGE!!!
#musictheory and #musicproduction nerds, start your engines: Ableton has created another interactive educational site, this one on tuning systems. It has widgets where you can edit the code directly in the browser to create sequences in any existing tuning or your own custom one, and export to a Live set. I've only just gone through the site once, and I'm blown away.
@corlin
Sorry to hear that, buddy. I've been there and proceeded with extreme caution turning my soil the other day.
