Happy - no, relieved - to be part of the fam here.

Y'all rock.

It took me way too many edits to make that post coherent. Maybe the sage is getting to my brain?

I haven't burned any incense since college, but I was getting tired of the house smelling like dogs plus whatever I last cooked.

I came across this cheap sampler pack of Nag Champa and I've started going through it the last couple days. I have to say, every one of them so far smells amazing. Currently burning white sage and it might be my favorite. 😌

Offered with a wry smile, remembering the days on IRC where ops used to auto kick/ban people with @aol.com addresses, esp. the ops in Linux channels

My fellow people:
This is MAJOR news!!!

Decca is re-issuing their LEGENDARY recording of the Britten War Requiem with the composer conducting! It is an all-new high definition digital transfer and remastering.

Here is composer John Rutter (who was in the boy choir of the original recording) talking about this release. More info and links are in the video description.

^ if you are interested in this release (personally I'm all over it) you should know that the vinyl and SACD versions are highly overpriced ($160 and $100 respectfully), but the digital downloads are quite cheap.

For the love of all that is holy, Don't you dare listen to this streaming or in a lossy compressed format. That would be a crime against the original engineers and those who worked on this re-release. Spend the $22 and get the 24/96 or 24/192 version.

Musical synchronization emerges spontaneously and enhances social connectedness.

Previous studies have indicated that music can establish and maintain social bonds, but the mechanics of how this happens were still shrouded in mystery. This study aimed to uncover the link between the physical act of making music together – specifically, synchronizing rhythms – and the feeling of being connected to others.
