On my phone (Android) I use Chromite, a privacy-hardened fork of Chromium. It's not on the above site, but it's predecessor Bromite was and had received top marks.

^ please take a moment and check the browsers you use with this site. Some of the popular ones are an absolute dumpster fire when it comes to tracking you.

I've settled on LibreWolf for desktop, a hardened Firefox fork. There are a small percentage of sites that don't work on it forcing me to open another browser, but I'm willing to accept that trade off for being better protected 99% of the better protected for the vast majority of my browsing.

If you want to know which browsers do or do not respect your privacy, check out the site below. They put a wide variety of desktop and mobile browsers through a battery of tracking and other privacy tests. Click on each test for more details.

I post this site every year or so, which is why I wasn't surprised about the recent news regarding Chrome "incognito" mode. It's unfortunate that it took so long to be widely reported.

But TikTok is so much worse about privacy!!!111

30 cassettes of previously-unheard Marvin Gaye recordings have been discovered in Belgium!

As you might expect, there is a legal fight surrounding them.

Here's hoping that a sensible agreement can be made, and we all get to enjoy more of Marvin's amazing music.

It would be no different then raging against Judaism on Rosh Hashanah or Islam during Ramadan.

This has been asked before, but it bears repeating:

As we approach the holiest day in the year for many Christians, kindly refrain from raging against Christianity during this time. It seems like some are making a point to be louder about it right now. Not only does that falsely generalize the practices of many different faith denominations, it is cruel to those who are celebrating a special observance in their faith and undermines any point you may be trying to make.

Facebook snooped on users’ Snapchat traffic in secret project, documents reveal

"The newly released documents reveal how Meta tried to gain a competitive advantage over its competitors, including Snapchat and later Amazon and YouTube, by analyzing the network traffic of how its users were interacting with Meta’s competitors. Given these apps’ use of encryption, Facebook needed to develop special technology to get around it."

I won't tell you how to use CounterSocial, but I will say that if all you're posting is hyperpartisan political memes then you're a.) missing the point and b.) far more likely to get muted than not by most of the people here.

Try being a real person. That's what works best in this place. ✌️

A friend at work introduced me to Da Hong Pao tea, and I'm hooked. She gets hers in China when she goes home to visit family.

It looks like this brand is not available in the US. Does anyone have a particular recommendation for this tea?

I saw this one recommended:

Prepare to be transported.

This is, IMO, the most stunningly beautiful music for Passion Week ever written. (Sorry, JSB.) This performance is one of my top favorite albums of all time, dare I say better than any Russian choir I've heard perform this piece.

It's that time when the Jesus memes pop up.
I love a *good* joke. Being a Christian is bizarre and often genuinely funny. Especially to those who don't share my beliefs.

I have one request:
Please keep it lighthearted and act with some kindbess, folks. Consider the many here for whom is genuinely an important festival.

Thank you xxx
