All the organ stuff I've been playing through the system since installing the sub doesn't seem to go below 32 Hz. I'll have to keep looking through my recordings...

@northernbassist
Those octave naming systems are not consistent with each other.

But yeah, 16 Hz is low C on a 32' pipe organ pedal register. You hear that in person once at full volume, and you don't forget it.

Someday I hope to visit the Atlantic City Convention Hall organ once it's fully restored, and get to feel their 64' register which goes down to 8 Hz! There's only two pipe organs in the world that can do that pure without a resultant.

If you can find it, Wild Elf is a dead ringer for Rodenbach Grand Cru.

@northernbassist @pendrag
I was considering that model, and connections wise it would have worked for me. But the space it would live in is a bit big and I think it would have run out of gas here. I also wanted a bit more LF extension.

There's also the 12S which gets down to 16 Hz for $800, but it's a really big box.

Hundreds of tech workers at the New York Times walked off the job Monday, November 4, in an open-ended strike. They are fighting for more equitable wages, better job security, and flexibility around remote work.

The workers are asking the public to honor their picket line by boycotting the NYT Games app and the NYT Cooking app. (As an alternative, check out the growing selection of solidarity-themed games and recipes that strikers are assembling.)

Hell, alright going to share this live to everyone on the Firehose. Alright, if you want to help LGBTQ+ folk across the globe, including here in the US, there's an organization that does just that. If you are looking for a way to help us get to safer states or locations around the globe, this is the organization to contact for sponsorships, donations, and volunteer work. rainbowrailroad.org/

@Pungent
I've never liked the idea of these, as it's one more thing that can fail at the worst time.

Also, what if you are in a situation where where you need to hand your firearm to a friend to defend both of you because you are incapacitated?

@Anouk

@pendrag
I would have gladly paid full price for this. Their customer service is also outstanding.

@FreedomATX @Anouk
One thing that page fails to mention is that some of these pistols may give you more trouble with follow-up shots if you don't have a very strong grip, compared to a full-sized pistol. Shorter / lighter pistols can have a stronger muzzle flip (aka recoil that goes up and back).

Definitely don't buy anything without trying a bunch of options first. Then get a good instructor and practice.

@FreedomATX @Anouk
Love CZ pistols too.

Something that's pretty refreshing about that page is that these are all firearms commonly recommended for men as well. In other words, they aren't recommending things specifically to women that are too tiny or otherwise compromised to perform well. You sometimes see that other places.

@FreedomATX @Anouk
I was going to recommend the Sig P365 and then I see the website agrees with me!

@sheseala
Thanks that don't actually happen in the books X3 in one meme! 😄

@corlin
I agree. When you go into the menu, crossover freq. is not selectable if you are using Audyssey mode. Mind you, this unit came with the most basic version of that software. It does the job, though.

@pendrag
They run closeout specials every so often, which sell out very quickly. I got mine for $399 with free shipping.

I haven't tried any movies yet, but it sounds excellent with a wide variety of music I've been listening to this evening.

I suspect it's on the lower side - I believe 80 Hz is the lowest the receiver lets you set manually and I think it chose something close to it. Despite these old bookshelf speakers being quite cheap (and the company out of business), I've measured their in-room response with a spectrum analyzer and seen decent response down to the mid-40s.

@corlin
I actually don't know! I'm running the sub in LFE Direct mode which bypasses its crossover, and I used the Audyssey room measurement and correction routine in my Denon receiver. It doesn't let you see the crossover frequency after it does its thing. You can only see the crossover point if you configure one manually.

@stueytheround
Thanks. I've never been a big fan of 5+ channel systems. I'd prefer to have great sounding stereo, especially in the open-concept living / studio / dining / kitchen where this lives.

My subwoofer arrived today.💥

DAMN this thing brings it for only a 10" driver. And of course the whole system sounds better because of the crossover and fresh room measurement / correction.

VERY happy customer over here. Phenomenal performance for the price.

@wolfwoman
I'm embarrassed to admit I just ate 5. They were the Olympic medal ones.
