If you have never listened to Bulgarian choral music, you are missing some of the most amazing stuff out there. The vowels are quite a bit brighter than Western ears may be used to, but the laser-sharp intonation cuts right through to your soul.

So, who else decided to drink a large quantity of vodka tonight and then sight-read some Ravel piano music that might be a bit beyond their skill level?
I got put on the spot at choir rehearsal tonight. Our actual conductor was occupied at the moment, and I was asked by our accompanist to conduct a piece I had only ever sung before, with no prep. It was literally, hey can you come up and conduct this? Oh, and can you sing the opening solo for us now that you're up there?
I didn't make a complete ass of myself, and the choir was super attentive and kind, so I'll take that as a win.
I found this years ago and just rediscovered it. SO awesome.
A pipe organ tribute to Michael Jackson performed at Trinity Church Wall Street, NYC. You'll hear a few different themes, but I especially like the fugue on 'ABC'.

Also gets #cosoclassical and #musictheory tags because of the compositional techniques used.
This is my fight song.
Shostakovich Symphony No.10 in E minor Op.93, II.Allegro

Gustavo Dudamel, conductor
This is the most gorgeous tone on trumpet I've ever heard. And what phrasing and dynamic control!
Rachmaninov - Zdes' khorosho
Tine Thing Helseth, trumpet
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Eivind Aadland, conductor
This gorgeous piece is always on my mind in Autumn, but especially this year. Choral music doesn't get any better than this, folks. I'm very excited to be performing this in a few weeks.

Recording engineer is Christian Amonson, who I occasionally speak with on Gearspace.

Both are at the absolute top of their craft, and it shows.
The #Arts are an important part of your balanced breakfast.
Just ask Johannes Brahms.
Love pipe organ? Put this through your best audio system and crank it. There's quite a bit of 16 Hz low C in there, if you have headphones or subwoofers that can do it.
This is the best performance of this transcription I've heard, and also the best recording. Oh, and it's a sampled organ!
J.S. Bach - Sinfonia (from Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir, BWV 29)

Sebastian Kuechler-Blessing, organ
Here is a modern version of a Mensuration Canon, where the same melody is played simultaneously at different speeds by augmenting or diminishing note values proportionally. In this case, many different rates at the same time. Otherwise, it's just a descending a natural minor scale, played on alternating short and long note values.

It's a beautiful day for laying down some vocal tracks.
Bonus points to the first who correctly names the mic and DAW I'm using.
Yes, someday I need to invest in room treatment.

After almost 2 years of not touching it since my last attempt, I have decided to renew the hunt for my White Whale. I'm surprised how much of it is still under my fingers.
These are the only fireworks I need today. 🇺🇲
