Just your average day at the symphony, right?

In the Heights is the best movie adaptation of a Broadway show I've ever seen. I'm only halfway through it and I'm already making that call. Phenomenal choreography and dancing, staging, costumes, cinematography, visual design, and of course the music. So creatively done. This should win a pile of awards. Go watch it now.
Why Today's Music Is So BORING. The Regression of Musical Innovation
V note: It is important to realize there is plenty of VERY creative pop music being made today Beato is talking about the abysmal crap you would find on Billboard 100 in recent years.
Name your ONE favorite Beatles song.
Rules:
1. There can be only ONE. I don't care if it's difficult to choose.
2. No responses saying you don't like the Beatles. Take that noise to another thread.
3. No criticizing others favorites, even if it's Hey Jude.
Bonus:
Try to guess my favorite.
In the Heights was an incredible live show, but the trailer for the movie version coming out soon looks like trite generic schlock.
I *really* hope they didn't ruin this and it's just a poor presentation on the trailer. If I hadn't seen it live (and been blown away by it) I would definitely not be interested based on the trailer.
I have never gotten into analog synths before, but this thing sounds amazing. It was designed by Allesandro Cortini (who you may know from NIN) and is used heavily on his new album.
I don't see it mentioned in the article, but "strega" means "witch" in Italian. Seems an appropriate name for this.

I'm listening to a professional development webinar where the presenter says he is a classically trained musician, and in the next breath mentions that Frédéric Chopin was a famous French composer.
Credibility plummeting. Good thing this webinar has nothing to do with music.

Sisters With Transistors Puts Women Back Into Music History
The documentary follows the women who, throughout the 20th century, captured the sound of a newly electrified world.

Either they thought people wouldn't notice, or they hoped they *would* notice and get the joke.

If you are REALLY want to nerd out on Star Wars music, here is a complete catalogue of all of the musical themes, including links to examples, explanations of thematic relationships, transformations, and more.
This is doctorate-dissertation-level work. I am in awe.
Here are two videos explaining what makes the music from the Star Wars original trilogy so great:

Note to self:
If you make an accompaniment guide track for singers to use during recording, DO NOT use a virtual woodwind quintet. The gentle transients make it extremely difficult to hear the beat while you were singing, no matter how high you crank it.
I am fairly proficient at playing and singing in time, and it took me EIGHT takes to nail down a 3 minute piece. 🤬
I told the person who made the track and he is fixing it at least.

You NEED to hear this. Members of the NY Philharmonic performed a tremendous rendition of Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man in January at St. Bartholomew's in NYC.
The incredible acoustics here really help this very wide spacing work. Plus, NY Phil really showcases their elite skills on display here. It doesn't get much better than this.
