I'm listening to a professional development webinar where the presenter says he is a classically trained musician, and in the next breath mentions that Frédéric Chopin was a famous French composer.
Credibility plummeting. Good thing this webinar has nothing to do with music.
But but but, the name sounds French, amirite?
@mikeflstfi
See my reply to them original for an explanation.
@mcfate
As it turns out, this webinar is about empowering LGBTIQ students in school. The reason Chopin was mentioned was that his one-time partner George Sand was transgender.
Oh, I'm aware he was Polish.
@mikeflstfi
Yes, I read your snark. That was for the benefit of others reading who might not have known.
@voltronic the more u know 🙃
@voltronic - so.... they learned music theory, but not music history?
This is a little like a mathematician saying that Pythagoras wrote "Elements", honestly.
"Wait, WHAT?"
@voltronic i heard a health quack say that what was bad for you and you should eat couscous instead!
@voltronic wheat. damn autocorrect.
I thought you might appreciate this, since we were down a Chopin rat hole the other day. And it's Martha. 🎹 #cosomusic #cosoclassical
^ For those who don't know, Chopin is easily the most famous Polish composer in modern history. The only reason he has a French name is because his father was French.
