In the Heights is the best movie adaptation of a Broadway show I've ever seen. I'm only halfway through it and I'm already making that call. Phenomenal choreography and dancing, staging, costumes, cinematography, visual design, and of course the music. So creatively done. This should win a pile of awards. Go watch it now.

In the Heights was an incredible live show, but the trailer for the movie version coming out soon looks like trite generic schlock.

I *really* hope they didn't ruin this and it's just a poor presentation on the trailer. If I hadn't seen it live (and been blown away by it) I would definitely not be interested based on the trailer.

I have never gotten into analog synths before, but this thing sounds amazing. It was designed by Allesandro Cortini (who you may know from NIN) and is used heavily on his new album.

I don't see it mentioned in the article, but "strega" means "witch" in Italian. Seems an appropriate name for this.

Note to self:

If you make an accompaniment guide track for singers to use during recording, DO NOT use a virtual woodwind quintet. The gentle transients make it extremely difficult to hear the beat while you were singing, no matter how high you crank it.

I am fairly proficient at playing and singing in time, and it took me EIGHT takes to nail down a 3 minute piece. 🤬

I told the person who made the track and he is fixing it at least.

You NEED to hear this. Members of the NY Philharmonic performed a tremendous rendition of Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man in January at St. Bartholomew's in NYC.

The incredible acoustics here really help this very wide spacing work. Plus, NY Phil really showcases their elite skills on display here. It doesn't get much better than this.
