@stueytheround Tar shingle on felt/tyvek/? 20-30 years with a lot of variation per weather (USA contends with all sorts). Steel aka tin roof will go 50 years or more. A couple years ago I had mine replaced (tar shingle) on a 40 year old house. The roof was 90% okay but a tree branch had punched a small hole all the way through the wood deck and a skylight had a leak (because skylights do) and I got some Biden energy efficiency money. New shingle has a 50 year warranty, fwiw.

@Zevon @corlin they have an easy out, imo. NLP had been around forever. Call this NLP++ or UberNLP, or suchlike. Natural media processing (NMP) maybe.
I'm not as grouchy as I sound, have found practical uses for torch and whisper and llama. Just find the hype tiresome.

I bet a whole annoyed psychology literature is developing around calling LLMs "intelligence".
