Because I cannot stand to be indoors with my thoughts, kiddo and I went outside to deep clean the budgie palace. We took the hose to everything. Even the mist setting on the themselves. They loved it.

I am just so fucking scared that all the worst things will come to be. If someone could please coach me through how to parent in the fall of democracy, that’d just be great.

The last 7 yrs or so has been a wild fucking ride and I have done my best. But is it any wonder my child and so many others are riddled with anxiety? We’re hanging on by our fingernails half the time. Gnawing them off the rest of it.

6yr old has been asking to go see July 4th fireworks. And while I feel no particular measure of patriotism, as it has been appropriated by the foulest of people, I almost feel compelled to take her because what if this Independence Day is the last Independence Day in which we are free in the USA?

Fuck.

This whole thing… all this democracy hanging by a thread fucking shit is next level when you have to explain it to someone so full of optimism and big dreams and love for the entire world.

Sitting on the couch stress eating a bagel and watching Beat Bobby Flay because I can’t handle anything but fluff right now. 😫

I've got that "lost in the mall feeling" in the wake of today's developments.

There's really no one or nowhere to look for comfort in the face of massive uncertainties.

The future is a whole lot of "we don't know" despite the desire to predict.

I suppose I'm sitting still in a place of grief for the friends I have lost to this, the ideals that have been undermined, and the amplification of uncertainties this creates.

Trying to breathe, reflect, and settle. None of us are alone.

Mark Hearling, a retired army commender just posed a question: "As a former military guy, I’m trying to figure out how a commander can refuse an illegal order from someone who is issuing it as an official act."
It makes me wonder if SC's immunity ruling was a way to paving the way to undo the military's allegiance to the constitution? All dictatorships need the military to stay in power.

Vote like it’s the last time you may ever get to vote. Because it very well may be.
🗳️ Vote Blue because many, many lives depend on it.

Biden should disband this politicised SCOTUS with his new vested power.

I'm basically going to keep saying the same thing between now and November.

Think about the following, as an exercise. Really ponder it:

What's the worst thing that happens if Biden gets re-elected?
What's the worst thing that happens if :Asshat: gets re-elected?

Consider those questions, and vote accordingly.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Alex Wagner: "What was the point of the American Revolution again?!"

What stands between America and dictatorship?

Defeating :Asshat: in November.

That's it. That's the whole shebang.

How long before they start “coming after” registered Democrats?
What’s to stop Trump from seizing people’s assets?
How long before they decide women can’t vote, own property, have a credit card ffs?!

You know how time seems to slow down in a car crash?

I kind of feel like our society and politics are doing that now.

So, it’s time for Joe to take these domestic enemies of state straight to Guantanamo Bay. Trump, Alito, Thomas, Coney Barret, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch. The are a threat to our freedom and democracy, after all. He’s got immunity, after all.

Taking kiddo and a bag of books (mine and hers) over to Half-Price Books to sell. We read so much the 2 bookshelves in her room have no space left. 🤪 I’m sure we are going to turn right around and buy more books.

I find it mind boggling that the only one people are asking to step down is the guy who is NOT a convicted criminal and does NOT have a history of assaulting women and when he hired people went for those who were skilled, not a bunch of straight crazy privileged white men.

Tell me again why the GOOD guy needs to step down?

14/28 of the books I have read so far in 2024 are far flung sci-fi. Because I am so stressed about the near future I need to be soothed by the balm of literary optimism.
3/28 have been cloying (but devoured nonetheless) romance novels because sometimes you need popcorn—smothered in chocolate, caramel, and candy coating. 3/28 have been historical fiction. 2 more have been collections of essays. 1 really ducking weird short story anthology and the remainder plays and poetry from the Bard.
