It bothers me because if you consider yourself a big VH fan, I don't know how you can't hear immediately that the synth part is wrong.

Then there's the fact that people don't get how concerts like this work. Even if Eddie and Wolfgang could hear the tuning mismatch it in their monitor mix (which you shouldn't assume) there's no way you're going to retune to match on the fly in a song like this.

Oh, and if Eddie's guitar really was out of tune, his guitar tech probably wouldn't have a job.

I don't know how many Van Halen fans have ever seen this video, but it has bothered me for years that the poster of this video and all the people in the comments assumed Eddie was out of tune, when in reality the synth part is playing in (almost) C-sharp Major while Eddie and Wolfgang are correctly playing in C Major.

I believe they used a recorded synth part, and there was a sample rate mismatch somewhere in the chain which could cause this.

^ FTR, this is one of those rare times I'm posting a song that I really don't like. But I'm riding the firehose here.

^ And that, friends, is how you hijack a trending hashtag.

Astounding result: they mean about the same thing, *however* “ Philharmonic puts the emphasis on the organizers and the audience, whereas symphony places it on sound and the actual music-making” — from wqxr.org/story/what-difference

Oh, and when I was a kid we rode our bikes everywhere and drank from the garden hose, etc.

Remember, friends:

We have a variety of tools available here to help us curate our own experiences, but they don't work perfectly, nor should you expect them to.

At some point we have to recognize when the best choice is to not engage in a particular conversation, or to simply ignore. Of course, those things don't apply equally in all situations. But you know what's interesting? Humans have curated their interactions that way without tech assistance for thousands of years, and we still exist.

Equally important is a rich and diverse education, because art teaches us how to be human how to express ourselves, and how to empathize and collaborate with other humans.

The ancient Greek philosophers knew this was true. Many others since have forgotten.

I may be biased on this being a career public school teacher who grew up in a family of public school teachers, but I firmly believe it's true:

A high-quality free public education, containing a full, factual, and uncensored history curriculum and delivered equitably for all would solve a great many of modern society's problems.

"Why would anyone ask me to use hashtags if they are not required?"

1. As the author of your post, you are familiar with its contents, which makes you the one most qualified to give it a hashtag.

2. Some people enjoy discussing certain topics, and your hashtag will make it easier for them to follow the important things you're talking about—and contribute themselves. How? By making your post visible in SEARCH results for that hashtag.

It's a very useful feature in a place like this.

Hashtags are NOT required. In fact, you can establish FILTERS on any term whether they are hashtagged or not.

Hashtags are however a kindness, particularly for topics that others might find sensitive or disturbing.

We like kindness here. Kindness rocks.

REMINDER - Unlike other platforms, your COSO feeds are not fed by algorithms, similarly, neither are moderation processes. While I catch a lot, being an actual human, and not an AI - I don't catch everything.

That's where YOU guys come in.

I always love how in the early seasons of you would see cheap acoustic foam tiles all over the place.

Just arrived. First impressions:

Wow, this stuff really is nice. Everything is perfectly machined, molded, and finished. Even the bottle opener feels serious.

The largest hex key feels like a weapon. The magnetizer is the smallest I've ever seen but does the job well.

Case / roll for drivers is thick, quality construction.

The only part I would improve is the hex key holder. The keys hang loosely in their slots, and I would prefer if they were gripped or snapped in somehow.
