Oh wow, I never heard that story. I thought that's just what us original DLR fans called them! But yeah another boneheaded idea from a record exec. Imagine if the original band had been called Van Lee Roth?!?!?

Ok so.. firstly I'll apologise for my typo (I'd already put one 'Dave' thought down before changing it).
Secondly, Where did you stand on the DLR band? I have to admit, my allegiance strayed thanks to Eat Em And Smile. I was floored by it and the musicians he'd assembled & felt he'd left VH in his dust... for one album, anyway.

I honestly can't remember even one song by them. I only ever listened to Van Halen, with either lead singer.

Related: I remember reading an interview with Ed when Warner Bros actually wanted to rename the band as Van Hagar after Sammy joined. He was mad as hell, and refused, saying "It's not just the name of the band. It's MY fucking name"
Still a fantastic song though that Dave could never have happened in the DLR era 👍
