Way to be non-specific, scammers.
Is the the phishing equivalent of "spray and pray"?

^ Many of you have probably seen Lock Picking Lawyer's video (below) where he defeats the boot in under a minute, but he uses a tubular pick, which not everyone may have handy.

I feel this needs to be shared far and wide, because the system that uses these devices disproportionately preys upon the poor.

I should add that this place is possibly one of the least-politicized firearms establishments I've been to. Outside of a giant decorative 2nd Amendment display on the wall, there are no posters promoting organizations, outrageous slogans, or inappropriate range targets. I also have never heard one word of political speech from any staff member there.

A gun range / store I've been to a few times just sent this. Bravo to them for taking this small step:

"All of us at [store] are heartbroken over the horrific events that occurred in Uvalde, Texas this week. If you are genuinely concerned about the mental health status of a friend or family member, and the potential of that person coming into [store] to buy a firearm, please reach out to the authorities and contact us directly. Call [#] and ask for a manager."

Interesting how we don't see anywhere near the same levels of shock and outrage over the scores of young black and brown children dying every day from violent acts in urban areas.

Maybe step one is addressing why that is the case, and then we work to reduce violence for ALL our people.

Do not post the shooter's name.
Do not post the video of the incident.

This doesn't "raise awareness" or encourage the change you want to see.

It amplifies these horrific acts which encourages others to do the same.

It also is harmful to people who are victims of violent trauma, including MIL/LE suffering with PTSD.

The only people whose names were should be repeating are the victims.

Sometimes I can't remember what I had for dinner the previous night, but if there's a song reference to be had I'm on top of it.

Because this is how my brain works, this one goes out to :jester:'s latest feature update:

Abusing the trust and good intentions people offer you is sick.

Using disability or disadvantage, real or invented, to solicit new victims to abuse is doubly so.

When you see these people, block and report immediately.

This was a popular tactic used by talentless, unemployed, self-described Social Engineers for various end purposes - the lulz of hurting and humiliating others, to gain access where their lack of hacking skills fail, or to spit in the face of the genuinely disadvantaged.

12ft.io can be very helpful for bypassing paywalls, but there are lots of places or doesn't work.

archive.ph seems to work *everywhere* (at least for now).

Well, it finally happened. I wore my Animal shirt to school today, and one of my much younger teaching colleagues didn't recognize it, nor had she ever seen The Muppet Show.

I just can't fathom growing up without the Muppets.

If someone posts a phone number with an offer that seems too good to be true...

Say it with me now...

Tonight I finally achieved piano seating comfort that I haven't had in a long time.

I bought this piano chair a while back:
cpsimports.com/Adjustable_Pian

It's great, except that the padding stops about an inch from the edge of the seat on all sides. So the edges and corners of the seat dig into your thighs, particularly when shifting registers.

So after trying a few different cushions, I got this one today. amazon.com/dp/B0927FMB26/

Had a long practice session tonight in comfort.
