Gboard doesn't improve the glide detection in my experience. It's just always looking at the context of what you're writing and feeding that into a mild sort of auto correct when you "miss" on your glides.

I might try increasing the correction strength in this one to see it it gets closer.

@ecksmc
Yes I've installed and been playing with it. One setting tweak that has helped me is to reduce the key height to 90%, which feels a bit closer to GBoard.

Other than that, the glide typing works well, but it's far less forgiving than Google's. You have to be much more precise with your swipes.

@ecksmc
I'll have to check us out. I had tried a bunch of these, and non-performed nearly as well as Google's keyboard. Particularly with glide typing which I heavily rely on. Looks like that is supported here if you extract Google's library for it.

@CelluloidBlonde
No skin off my nose. I get to run anything I want to, remove or deactivate components of the OS I don't want to need, and use whatever hardware I please. Apple products are a nightmare for people like me.

@XaoslordErie
Between this and her recent separation from other members of the squad on Israel, her stock is going up in my book.

@LaurelGreen
That's a pretty good idea. Alternately, I'd like those people to really demonstrate what they're after. Take down all of those old stick figure icons with or without skirts, and replace them with detailed pictures or sculptures of they genitalia they want in each restroom.

@amarand
No disrespect to the small businesses, but the point I'm trying to make isn't about them. I'm talking about the companies / orgs who are "too big to fail" in the sense that when they systems go down, large swaths of economic or physical infrastructure could grind to a halt with them.

@th3j35t3r

@amarand
So you're saying that these companies are the infosec Cosa Nostra?

@th3j35t3r

@Render
At least you can tell what they are going for; it looks like those two Ford vehicles. Unlike the new EV Mustang which looks like a Tesla Model Y with slightly different body work and lights.

Appreciate the honesty, but *someone* needs to have the answer. Because we're long past this stage...

@th3j35t3r @White_Rabbit
I also wonder if CrowdStrike et al thoroughly test all patches on dev mirrors of their client installs before pushing them out. I realize that takes time and is not free, but I would think that's part of what you're paying these companies to do, to make sure that anything pushed out to operational systems is clean and solid.

@th3j35t3r
Are there independent security contractors who can handle organizations this large? Because to me, that would be preferable.

What's happening now seems like the infosec equivalent of these large companies all investing a huge amount of their assets in the same stock, and trusting that it will stay stable.

@th3j35t3r
Serious question: Given this latest disaster from CrowdStrike and previous ones from SolarWinds and other such security providers, why are so many companies continuing to rely on them? I can appreciate the scope of managing a huge number of systems, but when one breach, poisoned update, or just plain bad patch takes down a huge chunk of national or international infrastructure, when will these orgs finally look to other solutions?
