As for Linux, I don't know what specific hardware and apps you are using, but none of the scorewriting and audio production apps and utilities I need to use will run natively on Linux. Neither will the dedicated outboard hardware I rely on. None of this is esoteric stuff, but I need all of it to work perfectly with low latency. The fact that none of it does without emulation layers and such that degrade performance makes Linux a hard no-go for me, unfortunately.
@phase2
Only safe and effective way to do that is to air-gap your system and never ever let it connect to the Internet again.
There are a good number of recording engineers who do that with their studio PCs. This is just as much a thing with macOS as it is Win, as quite a few major Mac updates in recent years have temporarily broken functionality of music production apps by messing with device and media handling.
@Render
I hope the Israelis protect those sources much better than the US did the Kurds who assisted us.
@Lovechild444
Actually it's that they want to end no fault divorce.
@northernbassist
It's acting as though it's a distant cousin to a banjo.
@opie
Now I get it. Thanks.
It makes me wonder if I try to access Max through my wireguard tunnel, if I would run into a similar issue? Maybe not, because my tunnel just goes back to my home network so I can have all my filters away from home.
@opie
Understand all that, what I'm not clear on is exactly what Max's servers are seeing that's running afoul - the tunnel itself or the v6 connection.
@opie
That sucks. But I'm not clear on why you are using the tunnelbroker thing in the first place. Are you saying that your home network doesn't have a public facing IPv4 address at all?
@PatrickKay
This is has been my secure messenger of choice for a while. Several others here use it. It's a total paradigm shift.
@PatrickKay
When you say that you use "Signal overlay for SMS" I'm not sure how that is, being that Signal removed SMS capability a couple years ago. One reason is that people thought they were sending encrypted messages to non-Signal users, which was impossible because SMS has no security.
@PatrickKay
Tangential comment - I don't like the use of encrypted communications being demonized, like that alone makes someone suspicious.
I use some encrypted comms that are way more anonymous and locked down than the three you mentioned and I have no criminal intent.
@th3j35t3r
Also, most of the "country music" they are commandeering is this modern quantized and autotuned homogenized crap that's taken over that sector. They can have it.
@th3j35t3r
I'm also pissed about the Gadsden Flag. I used to love that flag, in its original meaning.
@BillieBun @dauphin87
Things were pretty good for the *white male* working-class back then. Women, POC, LGBT, not so much.
@northernbassist
Oh, DUH.
@Render
I want to know if that local cop who confronted the shooter on the rooftop immediately called it in.
@heatherdale @northernbassist
I feel pretty dumb right now. The only thing I'm getting is a four-part chorale.
@BosmangBeratna
Same!
@AlphaCentauri
I have a problem with that statement for a different reason. If one of the rounds grazed the ear rather than broken glass from the prompter, then an inch or so to the right would have been a fatal shot. Walk that back to the rifle, and a very tiny change in grip, trigger pull, optic adjustment, etc. could make that difference.
