FINALLY! Online comms that can handle live musical interaction! This isn't student-friendly yet, but I'm SO excited about where it could go.
"Soundjack is a realtime communication system providing any quality- and latency- relevant parameter to the user. Depending on the physical distance, network capacities, the actual network conditions and the actual routing even musical interaction or at least compromised musical interaction is possible."
This may be Randy Rainbow's finest work yet. Fiddler on the Roof fans, take note.

For Memorial Day:
This piece is the greatest memorial I know of to those lost to war. If you have not heard this before, please listen. It is deeply moving, difficult, and beautiful.
War Requiem, by Benjamin Britten
This is the first recording of the piece from 1963, and many consider it still the best.

For the past few days, I've been working on a "virtual choir" video for a school district event. First time doing this.
Don't let anyone fool you: putting one if these together is very challenging, especially with kids, and I'm working with less than 20 "members". The audio is actually the toughest part, because not everyone stays in tempo. If I hadn't quickly learned DaVinci Resolve, I don't think I could do it. Elastic Stretch is saving me big time.

Even if you are not a musician, there is fascinating info here about droplets vs aerosols.
Please share this article with anyone you know who is attempting to get back to group music making too soon. It breaks my heart that we can't do this right now, but it's simply not safe.

Calling all networking and media streaming experts!
I want to hear your thoughts on what it would take to set up true live-streamed virtual rehearsals and concerts involving over 100 musicians, with very low latency (say, under 1000 ms). We're going to need it, if we hope to make music together anytime soon.
I am envisioning something like Dante, which is popular in the pro audio market, but on a much wider distributed scale.
It may be a long time before it is safe to sing together.
Here are summary notes from a webinar held yesterday, hosted by a group of choral organizations and medical specialists.
