I just decided to forgo a "main" this year. It's just me, and I always make WAY too much food.
I also don't try to make it all for Thursday, but extend the cooking over the weekend. (Typically, the dessert happens on Saturday.)
This year, I'm making stuffing w/ leeks and chestnuts; a "stuffed mushroom" casserole w/ vegan sausage; mashed potatoes; braised cabbage w/ apples; and a ginger-pear-galette w/ cranberry glaze.
Yeah, apparently it was an exercise.
So they're preparing for a similar emergency, but it hasn't actually happened.

Oh, yeah--the crust is super bready and a little sweet... amazing to eat the edges like bread sticks, with plenty of honey.

I read about what he did, and it was not the actions of someone who was doing it for the first time. He did a lot of classic grooming behaviour, trying to isolate her and turn her against her family. Giving her instructions on how to not get caught.
It was definitely the behaviour of a serial groomer.

It's definitely a bit of the old Democrat formula that has shifted the Overton window so far right: Leaning "across the aisle" to work with people who then just move the line back.
On the other hand, I'm not sure she could safely do anything else.
Perhaps she will vocalize cooperation, but find ways to resist once she's actually in office.
While it's illegal to strip DRM from eBooks in the US, it's still the best way to break out of Amazon's stranglehold.
