@kismatt Yeah, the right seems to still think they are the only ones with guns. Weird world we live in.
@VelvetDuchess Not to be a naysayer, but, people saw that coming from 4 years away. They just got discarded by all of the apologists writing scathing articles about 5 dimensional chess and the delicate workings of the "judicial process". This country's government collapsed a long time ago, justice system included. We just keep pretending that it is business as usual.
@danalan We have an oligarchy. MAGA was compatible with oligarchies. This is why it was so well funded, and why the media put all their chips in the MAGA basket. Progressives are not compatible with oligarchies. This is why the media and Democrats make them out to be extremists and terrorists. It is highly unlikely that Democrats rebrand as anything other than the "real republicans". We don't learn easily.
@AskTheDevil I think it starts in the community. Even if that community is just you and a couple of neighbors. In that microcosm, political differences tend to carry less weight and the "you watch my back, I'll watch yours" mantra takes over. In either event, community is the only thing that will save anyone.
The idea spreads quickly as community members talk to friends, neighbors, etc.
I live in a very mixed (politically) neighborhood. The neighbors do not talk politics.
@Bleez Been like that for a while. Your best bet is to post an image with the url. Same with Twatter.
@Razdawg22 You can answer this with another question. "Does this cause insecurity in white men?" That is the criteria for all banning decisions.
@TheNewsOwl In no context are those jokes. Those are hate speech. People can attempt to re-frame them as something else, but they are hate speech.
If you haven't seen the South Park episode "About Last Night" (Season 12, Episode 12, originally aired in 2008) maybe give it a watch.
And if you don't want to watch it, here is a little synopsis of it from Wikipedia.

@Alfred approximately how much money was spent on election related ads during the 2024 election?
@Horrrflmlvr Might be that local candidates are the only ones ever worth donating to. Everyone else has super wealthy backers and still tries to fleece every last American they can.
@SaltyVeruca I highly recommend the Walther CCP M2+. It is an outstanding beginner 9mm, has very low recoil and is very easy to rack. My wife @kayleenmeow absolutely loves hers and she was very afraid of guns. She is confident and competent with it now.
@process The whole "we go high when they go low", complacent, weak-willed approach is probably a good deal of what cost us this election. Pandering to the worst elements of our society has only ever benefited the worst elements of our society. While I admire Biden, the weakness of the Democrat party is a large part its own downfall.
@Zevon The reason I am considering Saskatchewan is that I am able to purchase a house with cash. I don't want to be a burden on Canadian society, so I want to move to a place that I can reasonably afford to buy a house. BC would be my first choice due to growing up in Washington state and spending a lot of time there as a teen. The cost of living in BC can be somewhat prohibitive. It is more important to find a job than location, so I will definitely expand my job searches to BC. Thank you!
Canada friends:
I am looking for Programmer jobs in Canada, especially around Saskatchewan as I am looking to possibly relocate or immigrate. Looking at the Job Board shows me that I need a work permit / visa to apply for most positions. Any tips on how to find positions that will assist with work permits and / or visas?
Ever wonder if that secret the repubs were giggling about before the election was to have billionaire donors pay off the right people to make sure that mail-in ballots never got counted so that election results wouldn't accurately reflect the vote and MSM would convince people that the repubs won exactly like they predicted?
They could even convince a candidate to concede early doing such a trick.
Ok, I know that one is out there. Just spitballing here.
@singlemaltgirl In a professional / work context:
Positivity is often necessary, and doesn't mean dumb action. It is often needed to motivate oneself to take any action. It is nearly always needed to motivate the "team" to take action.
Negativity doesn't lead to no action. I often get super frustrated on my way to finding a solution. That frustration is necessary.
Honesty is an Achilles heel. It is often taken wrong, and causes injury.
So, nah, not being judgy IMO.
