Food ingredient ignorant person here 👋
I have to avoid nuts, seed, and corn for the next three days 😫 and I’m clueless about what kind of foods could have these ingredients, unless it’s obvious stuff like chips, pistachios.
Tofu? Hummus? What about rice paper? Is flour stuff, like tortillas safe and pasta?
I’m trying to go thru my kitchen to see what I can eat.
I’m going to be very grumpy for the next three days.
@see_the_sus hummus is usually chickpea based. flour tortillas & regular pastas should be fine if wheat isn't on your list.
@see_the_sus
you weren't given a list of what to avoid? that stinks. the "seed" one is a bit concerning
celery seed kind of obvious, but without a magnifying glass how do you know? and just corn or corn syrup? that's in everything😒
unhelpful, I know
@see_the_sus
ok now I see the issue
when I go through this I can have nothing at all, but just for about 12 hours beforehand. If I am told this on my next goround, I'm asking for a menu
That's a broad category. Is the issue the items themselves (like avoiding for allergies) or textures (like some conditions you need to avoid little hard bits), or some other specific avoidance that might help with suggestions?
I’m having a medical procedure on Tuesday and I have to avoid those items
I'm not a doc, and not your doc, but that sounds like a "hard to digest and can get stuck in the digestive track" list to me. In which case, smooth well-grounded versions of things like flour and hummus are probably ok. But your best bet is probably to call and ask your doc if you aren't sure.
I can’t call them now since it’s the weekend and Monday will be too late. I’ll just err on the side of caution and eat lots of meats and potatoes.
Also, does your insurance have one of those 24/7 helplines? Many in the US do. They might be able to answer you more officially.
Yeah, the concern is around things that are hard or fibrous and don't digest easily. So a plain bun would be ok, but a sesame seed bun wouldn't be.
@see_the_sus OoooooOooooh! *THAT* list of foods! I did a lot of potatoes and meats... And I think I may have asked for a hug before the knockout took full effect.
I feel sorry for my friend who’ll be taking me cause come Tuesday morning at 7 I’m going to be intolerable.
@see_the_sus that is part of why they do them that early. It isn't called the crack of dawn for nothing.
HAHAHahahahaaaaaa 😏
@see_the_sus Mine says that plus no raw veggies or fruits 24 hours before and nothing red or purple. List gets tighter every time.
This was just for the three days prior. 24hrs before is no solid food. I haven’t eaten in almost 15 hours now.
If this is a bowel procedure you need to avoid whole nuts, seeds, and corn as kernels.
Anything that has been ground smooth into a paste or ground into flour should be fine.
@see_the_sus
Ah yep.
Just no bits of stuff that don't digest easily.
@see_the_sus
This includes tomato seeds, cucumber seeds...
@Shelter
Shit…totally forgot about tomatoes. 😭😭😭😭
Colonoscopy. 😭 I’ve put it off for over five years.
@see_the_sus
Wait until the Emptying.
Enjoy your food, there's plenty yum available without sneaky little bits, and it'll be all over before you know it.
Oh they'll say no red or purple jello but they are fine with blue.
I don’t have any Jello-O. Just had to borrow money from my mom to buy the disgusting Gatorade. My food stamps don’t come until the 17th. 😞
I hope this goes as easily as possible.
It probably will as I’m overblowing the whole damn thing, as I tend to do. I really don’t like being out of control of my body, especially to lose time.
Between these damn hot flashes, it being 100F outside and various other life crap, I’m a ball of cheeriness.
This is all the paperwork says. Well except for the night before when all I can have is liquids.
