I submitted 217 applications since April, each with a resume tailored specifically for the job description. Of those 217 positions, I got interviewed for just 2. It's tough out there.
The other interview was with a certain cyber security company that went on to break the entire world the week after they rejected me. There's a lesson in there.
I've been using stract.com as my primary search engine again and it seems quite a bit better than the last time I tried it.
The Optics feature is really nice for tailoring searches, too.

🗒 This Week (2024-08-18)
Just time for a quick recap of the week - bike wrenching, a terminal escape, a light switch, and more.
Ok. Here are the two watches up for sale. Both are automatic mechanical movements (no batteries). Both have been worn by me but are in very good cosmetic condition.
The orange dial watch has Invicta branding on the case and bracelet but I hardly notice it.
The goal is to sell one. Either for $100 + shipping.
If both sell, I’ll donate the proceeds from the second watch to CoSo.
DM if you’re interested. If you’re unable to DM, leave a reply and I’ll DM you.
Thanks!

(I did a lot of fumbling/experimenting/learning to make that work!)
By now, you’ve heard about the massive hack that revealed nearly 3 billion records.
The records contain names, dates of birth, addresses, and phone numbers on a wide swath of the population.

This is so cool - a fully-functioning 35mm film camera made entirely out of LEGO.
It needs another ~1500 votes in the next 33 days. Please support it, I need to add it to my LEGO camera collection.

🔑 I love seeing more services supporting passkeys!

PS: passkeys are *not* passwords, don't treat them as such:

The temptation to install Oucher on my newly-rooted robot vacuum is very, *very* high.
