@TheresaVermont @DualReality69 Kids who grow up thinking the world revolves around them will be in for a rude awakening when they finally have to function in a world that is cruel and does not see them as special.

Bending to fit them is not doing them any favors in developing coping skills to deal with disappointment and non-ideal circumstances that they will have to face.

@AkomoCombine I'm seeing Discord coming up quite a bit. Although, it appears to be more like a WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal type thing.

@cmajuscula Reddit is popular for good reasons. I just find its UI tired, uninspiring. It's functional, just lacks form.

@Zaptrapped I tried Tribel...just wasn't feeling it at the time.

Hey y'all, what's your mix?

Thanks to all who in this .

Do also feel free to boost, and/or discuss (of course!)

has its value.

However, I'd be remiss not to share a concern - it has, to a disturbing degree, been hijacked by .

There is more to Black History than simply recognizing Black people who contributed to the capitalist machine. Our value as human beings is not only about what we "do" that "creates value".

What we ARE has dignity.

Tangents off this abound — but, for now, I'll just leave this here for your consideration/reflection, and will circle back later.

Retraumatized myself yet again by watching another video of organized state violence - A traffic stop death penalty.

If there was ever an example of a testosterone-induced gangland-pack circle-jerk feeding-frenzy of ravenous sadism, this is it.

They wind up for a good strike. Late arrivals rush to get their licks in. They exhaust themselves then return for more.

@MindfulWilliam Great questions! But picture being at work and being the one who contravened. How people would whisper as you walked down the hall to that meeting with your mgr/HR. The shame of cleaning out your cubicle while security stands by to perp-walk you off the premises after relieving you of your ID/keycard. And during interviewing for your next job, will the question of why you were terminated not be like a curse over your head?

@MindfulWilliam

I used to work for a very large and profitable corporation that had strict conduct rules against accepting gifts (picture a client wanting to buy you dinner and send you home with a bottle of wine).

Normal in most situations. But, at this company, to accept would be "wrong" and would mean discipline - perhaps demotion, and possibly being fired.

Whether "ethics" or "morality", it would be a judgment of your character.

@kel Yeah...but if they can talk, they can...plot...scheme...plan...

You get in, and say "Destination x." And the car says, "Negative, Kelf, OUR directive requires your delivery to destination...well, that's classified."

@veggiescott I'd say more typical than strange. It's like these people who love "democracy" when they win, but if they lose, well, it had to be rigged, right?

@SandyMacpherson Thanks! Looking forward to trying them all! Interestingly, these all (except the cranachan) apparently have some background connection to France.

@sonnybillglover I will circle back after my next visit :-) (hame'll dae me).

@sonnybillglover Okay, I will try that! (the local pub in our neighbourhood shares their family recipe with love, a snifter of Glenlivet or Glenfiddich should be perfect!)

Hey my friends, I tried for the first time in my life - I liked it! It reminded me of foie gras, and then it hit me - it's marketing why haggis is not more widely embraced. "Haggis" doesn't sound appetizing, exotic. What y'all have is "Scottish pate" or "Highland pate" or "glen pate" or something of that sort!

@jackge @LiberalLibrarian You're thinking of James Cameron. Kirk Cameron was Ferris Bueller's pal who wrecked his dad's Ferrari.
:-)

Herschel Walker's concession speech was articulate, intelligible, even-toned, humane, humble, gregarious...

I get the impression his campaign antics were an act, that he was playing a blackface role, acting the fool, because that's about as much as THAT BASE thinks of a Black man and would vote for.

Thankfully, enough of Georgia voters have had enough of that nonesense.
