@PussyFootingAround LOL!
@LiberalLibrarian Not for me. Sheesh, I can't even deal with contact lenses. But, NGL, when eyeball tattoos go wrong, I have zero sympathy. People take for granted the sensitive functionality of these tissues till they screw it up.
@PussyFootingAround
Sad. Imagine what might have been!
@BillMorrisLCARS24 I've had it. It was unremarkable, I can't even remember if I liked it or not, but that indifference itself is a fair indication of my experience.
@LiberalLibrarian Gotcha!
@LiberalLibrarian Nah. You're not a scumbag!
@PoliticalEd @LiberalLibrarian Yeah, it "should". Yet, somehow, they march on. Party of family values and election fraud watch are still backing Hershel Walker. There is no bottom to the level of these people's depravity and utter lack of shame. Boggles my mind.
@drdewaynelehman Agree! I, too, tune out trolls, the moment they double down on rhetoric (strawman, false equivalence, sea-lioning, ad hominem, etc.).
I'm looking forward to exponentially less of that here on CoSo!
Cheers.
@drdewaynelehman Sorry for any confusion, I meant to write "difference between discussion *and debate*".
@drdewaynelehman What, in your mind, is the difference between discussion?
When I read attempts to differentiate these two ideas, discussion includes a willingness to listen, learn, and possibly change one's view, which, at face value, appears (to me) to be the opposite of what you just wrote. But I could be wrong.
For the record, I do care if someone disagrees with me. I don't know everything, and respect others who can teach me things. Hence, mixing it up here on a social media site.
@Fur_Mama4Life If you told me that, I would...believe you.
@Asston Likewise. You're not alone. Looking forward to keeping in touch :-)
@Asston The world can be cruel. We all have to fight. Women have to fight in a man's world. Disabled people have to fight in an ableist world. I'm Black, fighting in a white world. My significant other is Indigenous, having to fight in a colonized world. Regular people have to fight in a world dominated by billionaires and millionaires. So don't worry about being autistic; if you weren't, life would just find some other reason to be tough on you. Just find those who'll fight with/beside/for you!
@Asston I was 13, and the new kid in a new school. One guy decided to pick on me. One day, I'd had enough, and when he pushed me, I pushed him back. He was so shocked, he ran away. Never hassled me again. But that was...a long time ago, things were different.
These days, I might suggest you talk with some of your pals and ask how they deal with that crowd. Or talk to a teacher. Avoiding conflict is the better path, as much as is possible.
@Asston I'm old school. Most bullies are overcompensating, testing the limits. They've got to be challenged, draw a line, let them know they are taking up too much space and they've got to take a step back and leave room for others. I've actually made life-long friends that way. This is general, of course, YMMV.
@BillMorrisLCARS24 LOL!
@TubunMuzuru @CaptHarpo Sure, okay, you're entitled to see it as you do. So, by all means, don't waste your time with me, move on, and I'll do the same. Cheers.
@TubunMuzuru @CaptHarpo You share your opinions on a social media site. Someone challenges your opinion, you defend with "I'm not going there with you." Got it. You want a one-way thing, you talk, others must only listen. I see how you work. Carry on, I won't bother you with a differing view.
@LauraKCurtis @Scottjohnson Yep, that's it!
