If you _want_ to believe something, it becomes easy to find reasons to justify that belief, even when there is evidence to the contrary that should make it a cut-and-dried issue.
We tend to believe things because we want to believe them.
Some people only _want_ to believe things because there is evidence or proof.
But you can _want_ to believe things for all sorts of reasons.
Nobody is immune to this bias.
Pretend for a moment, you are sometimes wrong. It is a helpful exercise.
