Remember folks

zero tolerance for trolls and misinformation

fuck around, find out

Noticing some slowness? That's to be expected. We're strangely popular lately for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Today is the day to call for an end to impunity for crimes against journalists. The truth is not killed by killing journalists. Mexico is one of the deadliest countries for reporters

If a website has weird restrictions on passwords such as banning quotes, dashes, quotation marks, or semi-colons, or if your password can't contain certain words such as select, be worried. They're either applying injection protections on fields that won't be stored in a database (which is inept) or they're applying injection protections on your password because they're storing it in the clear (which is exceedingly dangerous).

@lenaoflune YES. And often when I tell people that, the response is "they are a big company I'm sure they know what they are doing." 😞

FWIW: I've found a ton of new music that I didn't know existed in .

@th3j35t3r I used to feel that when I first started my first job as a programmer. Now it's been 23 years and I've seen it all. So I'm going to tell you that that running this site effectively with the surge of new users means you know what you are doing. All of us have to keep learning to fix stuff for our entire career but it's the effort we put in to find the answers that makes us pros. Sorry for the long winded response.

One of my favorite old adages:

"Hating others is like holding onto a hot coal and expecting them to get burned."

@lenaoflune you have definitely struck a chord with me on this one. When a website won't let me use special characters in my password, often I will bail. But sometimes it will be a medical site I NEED to access!

It's early on the US east coast, but let's get the day started

@InfoSec_Valkyrie I think I first heard his music via an early Pax performance but I've been a fan ever since!

@ianthealy if you paid the authors, that's a win - coming from someone who was once a tiny publisher

Month closed, authors paid. Ah, the life of a tiny publisher.

You've Been Trained To Solve The Wrong Problems

Sitting down, blocking out distraction, getting in the zone and knocking out a solution...that feels good. It makes us confident and fills us with a sense of productivity. It gives us something we can show our bosses and the business and say 'here is the magic bullet I built for you'.

But it's also a trap.
