@LaurelGreen your life is not “small stuff.” I am so sorry you are going through this battle. But you are a warrior, you are allowed to be angry and sad. I’ve been working in inpatient oncology for 10 years. Visitors and friends are so quick to say, “well it’s just hair!” But it’s not JUST hair.

You feel what you need to feel because this battle is no small thing. Just don’t give up. ❤️‍🔥

@chaos440 ooh! I have been reading the Wild Robot book to my daughter. Do you think the movie would be too scary or just right for an almost 7yr old?

@Route10 my sister’s kids were out of school in Northern Virginia today from storm damage related to Helene.

Three mosquito bites and 2.5 hours to assemble a 10ft trampoline for kiddo’s birthday on Thursday. Trying to keep her from seeing it in the backyard has required some creative fibbing. Once she’s at school tomorrow we are going to move it back behind the garage. Until then, spontaneous movie night!

@pendrag it’s a planet box. I love them. The less plastic we can introduce, the better. Most days we have little to no waste involved in her lunches. Tomorrow will just be the wrapper of the cheese. I still count it as a win. She takes a cloth napkin too.

Meditative school lunch packing.
PB&J bears, string cheese, carrot sticks and yum-yum sauce (weird? yeah. I know,) orange, and oyster crackers, and mallo pumpkin thingies for treat.

Houston, we have a grazer.

The degree to which Vance hates and wants to subjugate women is profoundly pathologic.

And the brazenness by which he expresses his hatred should alarm everyone.

We live in a 4BR split level, currently with our bedroom, kiddo’s, a guest room for the occasional visitors, & the last one is hub’s WFH space. With recent developments, we’re cautiously optimistic that we will be in need of a nursery.

So does the WFH space relocate to a corner of the finished side of the basement, or should we merge the WFH with guest room (would probably take off closet doors to make a desk alcove), or do we relegate guests to a pull out sofa (which needs to be purchased?)

This morning I looked at the results of yesterday's lab work: lymphocyte count has dropped even lower. I will be calling hematology on Monday. Today, however, I spent all day at a event taking classes and also performing w two of my dance sisters. Because today I am alive and able to dance.

@_txgal oh crap. Take some Benadryl or Zyrtec if you have it. And get help if you need it.

From ALA data: Pressure groups in 2023 focused on public libraries in addition to school libraries. The number of titles targeted for censorship at public libraries increased by 92% over the previous year, accounting for about 46% of all book challenges in 2023.

@MotherDucker

Difficult times that are being normalized by frequency.

Three “incidents” in our school district in the last week (prop bullet found on elementary bus, middle schooler making verbal threats, different middle schooler brought a knife to school.)

Then I get to work at the hospital where we ran an on a Saturday morning.
