@ToruOkada @MookyTroubadour I've carefully curated mine. 3rd party app to clean up the interface. Mostly YouTuber channels for photography, retro gaming, emulation, voice-over. Good resource for film and production tutorials and gaming/film essays/retrospectives. I do not follow any big channels, go straight to my subscriptions, blissfully ignorant of anything else.
@feloneouscat Dark times. An iconic reaction to Thatcher's death was a Scottish pensioner and former trade unionist named Cathy Rutherford, when interviewed in Glasgow during Maggie's funeral said, "I’d put a stake through her heart and garlic around her neck to make sure she never comes back." Pretty much summed up how the working class viewed 'the iron lady. I'm from the Welsh valleys, coal mining the heart of our communities in the 80's; she was universally hated.
@gshevlin It's like having a quiet night out, the pub seems nice, then the pub puts the match on and in pours the supporters.
@Kaysymmetry Really enjoyed it. Better than the 80's version, I thought.
@feloneouscat No, it's not even close. I'm not comparing, or would I dare to. Here, you can justify on grounds of being detrimental to mental health. However diluted, though, it's still pathetic that were still subject to old colonial laws.
We have a populist nutter over here that's chummy with with the returning toxic watsit. The right-wing movement is alive here, too, albeit not as bold. Abortion aside, we think certain things abroad matter not here; we should think again.
Observing what's going on across the pond, I forgot that abortion is still yet to be decriminalised in the UK.
In the past decade, police in England and Wales have investigated at least 17 people for procuring their own abortion outside the law.
A doctor can still contentiously object to carrying out a procedure.
These colonial era laws continue to apply in countries like Gambia, Malawi and Jamaica.
I know it's comparing apples to oranges, but we're still living under laws of the dark ages.
@matuzalem Tea, biscuit, *ploop*
@EllyOnTheGo You are a warrior.
@EllyOnTheGo I hope you're doing better and more brighter days ahead. I had a bit of a breakdown when I was diagnosed type 1 Diabetic. That's what kicked-off my anxiety and depression. Weed got me through the death of a dear friend in my early 20's. I agree: it should be legal everywhere!
@joem2go ... never got to do Excell but heard good things.
@joem2go I preferred winter cons. When Stan Lee was at Earls Court for our last-but-one, the queue spiralled around the building three times. Our last summer con was at Astoria in 2015, it was so hot and cramped, even the queues to the lifts were as far as the eye could see; nowhere to chill, couldn't get to the merch, autograph, photo ops, and panel slots all went to shit so was mad rush. That was my, 'fuck this, I'm done'. Perhaps it's changed since, but I'd only go back to a winter con. 🖖
@joem2go Used to go there regular. I'm shell shocked at the realisation it's been nine years since the last time. 😳⌚
@EllyOnTheGo I can relate. My week has mostly been 3am dark thoughts and putting on a face. It's exhausting acting okay in the workplace. Read in comments that you take edibles. Weed is illegal in the UK, sadly. I smoked like a trooper at college, but I have to be a good boy now. I do find CBD and 5-HTP helps with the butterflies.
@Timmah1979 I need to rewatch it. There's some stellar cinematography and visuals to appreciate via a second sweep, but I must admit to not liking certain aspects of the movie. I won't yuck one's yum by criticising it specifically - it's all subjective.
I did a soundtrack marathon, too; Romulus is right up there - a few cheeky callbacks to the earlier movies.
It's been a year of movie franchise re-watches for me and my significant other this year: Fast and Furious, Resident Evil, the Alien universe, James Bond, Bored Identity, (new) Planet of the Apes, The Indiana Jones Trilogy...
There will, of course, be a Star Trek marathon by the end of the year; this is the way.
@QueenOfEverything Could not have put it better. I'll choose taking as long as it takes to hit within a character limit than ever put a single space after a full stop, period.
@type181 I went in 2018, amazing, must go back at some point. Best advise I had beforehand was worry about your card balance afterwards and don't think about it while you're there. The prefer card over cash.
@gemswinc I mostly sit in corner, slowly sipping my pint. 😄

I enjoy photography, comics, retro and racing games, electronic music, and Oxford commas; I also endorse semicolons.
