@gemswinc I've been here for a few years lol 😅 Just posted about it.
I know I've been here a few years now, mostly lurk-and-like but still pay for pro. Mainly it's because I'm introverted, grumpy, and life's been uneventful for me recently; daily grindosaurus.
I happily still pay pro because among other things I believe in the foundations; no other platform protects its users better.
You get out what you put in. My mind is free from the algorithm and the need for micro endorphin hits - I don't need to interact if I've nothing meaningful.
Have a great day. 🖖
I nuked all my socials except two. Put BlueSky to sleep for now while I contemplate.
15+ years, pouring heart and soul at times, for the odd exchange, like, repost. I've changed: social media has changed.
I didn't announce my departure; those thousands of people are only interested in the next thing deemed popular by MSM and their favourite celebs.
I won't be coerced into keeping tanking ad infested accounts alive out of fear of losing connections who never wanted to interact beyond them.
@northernbassist Mmmmmm... dynamic. 🤤 😄
@Beanc I feel seen. 🧀

#ifellasleep in a David Gilmour t-shirt and woke up on an island.
@Keysalagain He's also the unhappy guy in the suit with the small green pieces of paper who walks naked into the sea.
Top photography tip: check there's an SD card in the camera BEFORE you leave, not when you whip it out to take an interesting pic. Good job I don't do this for a living... 😂 #stupididiot
@AskTheDevil I used Ubuntu then Mint heavily some years ago; it's like old pair of shoes: it's lightweight, reliable, unintrusive, and it works right out of the box. Apparently older Windows games work much better on Linux than with Win 11. Some decent opensource alternatives to paid software. I think the Cinnamon desktop and general design looks a lot better than Windows, too.
@Lucky188 Oh, this stick was old; as in it still had a copy of Ubuntu from over fifteen years ago old. 😄
@AskTheDevil Yes, which Windows can't read natively, but Linux if fine with reading Windows file systems so I will use Mint to copy over my game roms to new retro handheld.
@feloneouscat It's been my go to whenever I install Linux on PC or virtual OS; never had issues with it. Unless for work or gaming I'm pretty much done with Windows.
