In a Month where we celebrate Veterans and being a US citizen, this...
This is what we call country dedication, my rack on top, Army Staff Badge, My Dad on the left and my Uncle Denver, killed at Bastogne, and this doesn't show my LTC sister's honors...

Every few years I send a request and have periodically gotten a few more pages. Recovery is ongoing.

@b4cks4w @MelissaHDavis @Madken65 I’ve been trying for two years to get hubby’s service records and his medals…big fat nothing so far. Only a response that they got my request. 😞
@NorCalCherylLyn @b4cks4w @MelissaHDavis
Having worked around many great DoD civilians, it does take time and you would not believe the multitudinous nature of the requests.
If they've confirmed your request, they ARE working on it.
@Madken65 @b4cks4w @MelissaHDavis I hope so. We need the whole record and I’d love to have his awards. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@NorCalCherylLyn @Madken65 @b4cks4w
My dad's were confirmed destroyed. His unit records are no help, either -- they were apparently an independent truck co, attached to whatever unit was moving forward. I found out from the Army green book on D-Day the company was on the beach that morning. That was a revelation to our family.
@MelissaHDavis @NorCalCherylLyn @Madken65
Unit records are exactly what I'm going to travel for. And fwiw, my kin's were also confirmed destroyed, but then I got a few (burnt) pages. And a few more.
@b4cks4w @NorCalCherylLyn @Madken65
And so perhaps I will try again.
@MelissaHDavis @Madken65 @b4cks4w wow…that would be a surprise if you hadn’t heard it before. I hope you can find more.
I found some cool info and pictures of hubby working on the flight deck because there are “tour books” of the Eisenhower that tell about where they went and what happened.
I was worried that hubby’s records were burned but the fire was prior to his service.
@NorCalCherylLyn @MelissaHDavis @Madken65
I haven't gotten a lot and it's taken dozens of years, so hang tough.
What I did get pointed me to another archive which I'll take a field trip to when I can -- they don't take outside requests.
@b4cks4w @MelissaHDavis @Madken65 it sounds so easy to do online, like I’d have it all in a few months. 🙃 #patience
@b4cks4w @NorCalCherylLyn @Madken65
Boo on not taking outside requests.
@MelissaHDavis @b4cks4w @Madken65 for sure…boooo!
@Madken65 Wow. A brave family. Thank you for their service.
@Madken65 I love that display to honor the years of service your family has given. Thank you!
@Madken65 I am humbled by you and your families service. Thank you, Colonel, truly.
@Madken65
I wish I knew my dad's. He never talked about it and his records were destroyed in the NPRC fire.
You are lucky to have this information.
