2. Bleich ist der Tag,
und blasse Nebel schleiern
die Sonne wie die Herzen ein.
Früh kommt die Nacht:
denn alle Kräfte feiern,
und tief verschlossen ruht das Sein

2. Drear is the day,
and pallid clouds are veiling,
the sunlight as the spirit free.
Soon comes the night:
then rest all powers empaling,
oblivion falls on all that be

1. Ernst ist der Herbst.
Und wenn die Blätter fallen,
sinkt auch das Herz zu trübem Weh herab.
Still ist die Flur,
und nach dem Süden wallen
die Sänger stumm, wie nach dem Grab

1. Autumn is sad.
And when the leaves are falling,
sinks too the heart in troubled grief to lave.
Still is the field,
and flown to Southwinds calling,
are songsters, still, as to the grave

This gorgeous piece is always on my mind in Autumn, but especially this year. Choral music doesn't get any better than this, folks. I'm very excited to be performing this in a few weeks.

Something I haven't heard discussed in all of this fallout from the January 6th incident is the upgrades to physical security and procedures that have undoubtedly been made to the Capitol building.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are now automatic security bulkheads and embedded non-lethal active denial / directed energy weapons, just off the top of my head. We will never hear specifics on those things, which is as it should be.

I really feel for infosec pros and IT managers who get incredulous responses to simple requests for improving safety.

Below is a thread from a recording forum I belong to. I really tried to convince them that running a 12-year-old version of a known vulnerable torrent client was a bad idea. The pushback was disheartening. Chalk up an on this one.

I wish people were considerate and I didn't have to xanax my dogs.

I recently opened up to a friend about the big life changes and struggles I've been facing recently. To which she said:

"Y'know, everyone has shit."

I'm posting this because I want everyone to realize that you have *no idea* what other people are going through, especially if they only share their issues within a small circle.

So please don't make assumptions about what someone is or is not living with. Because everyone has shit they are dealing with in their own different ways.

Got invited to an open-bar birthday party, after which the organizer sends me home with a 1.75L bottle of Tito's because no one was drinking it. Good night.

I learn something new here almost every day. That's because of the high caliber of people we have here.

Hi there. I think we're going to get along. I'm a musician who also loves building computers.

Anyway, the numbers vary by source but the graphs all look like this.

I did a little investigation tonight involving playing with an excellent free Oberheim synth plug-in I found. Learned some interesting things. Thread and results here:
