You know, growing up during the cold war and the constant threat of nuclear disaster has done wonders for my ability to live calmly next to a man who was once arrested for making bombs.
My worms definitely seem to prefer the fair trade flavor of coffee grounds over regular organic. I think they like the taste of responsibility.
Woohoo, now the ground isn't so icy, I went to check my busted pipes and the giant icicle pushing the two halves apart is thawed, someone can come out soon! My kitchen and hair are so ready for it!

One of the biggest taboos in American work life is actually stating your salary. This is a great way for employers to divide employees. How can you collectively work for better conditions when people don’t know what each other are making? In the older world, when most people were working for wages, people knew. I walked away from the sunflower seeds I was sorting (last year's harvest into "what might grow" and "worm food"), came back and the bowl was knocked over, looked directly at Romeo and he quietly spat the seeds out of his mouth with a look of dread on his face. Omgs, this dog is effort.
