'Opioid pain-relieving medicines are not more effective than a placebo in relieving acute back and neck pain and may even cause harm, according to a world-first trial led by the University of Sydney.'
#history #colonization
So, most people know or at least heard about colonization of Americas & what consequences on indigenous peoples it had.
How many of you know about colonization of Siberia? And what happened to the indigenous peoples of Siberia. If nothing - here is a decent starting point (guess what, diseases are also present in this story):

huh, apparently, there is no platform that allows you to find friends via book tastes. I thought goodreads could do it, but no.

I told my husband about "Can't Hurt Me" by Goggins, he found an audio book and listened it.
Alcohol was his favorite drug for years, he always maniacally wanted to loose weight but couldn't quit drinking.
And then he stopped drinking overnight.
I am literally shocked by the effect of this book as this was his problem for decades and nothing could persuade him to reduce the intake. Until now. π³
I've made a mistake and visited a local fb page (I have a naked fb account that sits there for other people to get in contact if needed, I don't use it). what hit me right in the face is the amount of hostile and angry comments from reps toward dems. how miserable your life should be if you spend your life trashing other people on the internet with such zeal and hate? I'm genuinely sorry for these folks, it's probably exhausting. angry people have angry bodies

Rest in peace, brave defender. After this AFU soldier was captured by Russian forces he refused to obey orders. Instead he responded with his final words: 'Slava Ukraini', before he was brutally executed.

Russia once again shows how inhumanely it behaves, and how far it is from the civilized world.

Just finished Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. I did not expect I'd love it so much. The thing a contemplating reader needs to know - the title is ironic. The book is NOT about "famous geniuses" or "admiration of unusually successful people". If anything, it's the opposite. Highly recommend for anyone who likes do dig deep into the fabric of the society.
nothing new here. a daily reminder: exercise!
some good news. celebrating small victories matters imo

even if it's not lab leak, the resistance China puts up against investigation of the origin is so suspicious that I can't drop thinking about the matter. There is definitely something bad happened that they don't what the world to know about.
The Russian-controlled Transnistrian region of #Moldova announced 3-month military exercises to begin on March 1.
Right now #Russia is trying to stage anti-government protests in Moldova by flying in and bussing in Russian citizens posing as Moldovan protesters in an attempt to install a pro-Russian puppet regime.
to be clear. I did have a gov owned device in the past - a laptop. it was my working laptop. I always tried to avoid using ANY non-job related web-sites. taking into account that I'm not on social media (joined CoSo several months ago), that wasn't hard. for personal use I have my phone and my own laptop.
