I've spent the past couple of weeks exploring an alternative take on the web called Gemini (not to be confused with any former bards). I think it's pretty neat, so I've deployed a Capsule (a site) which I'll use as a lightweight Gemlog (a blog) going forward:

At 90% no confidence Congress will pass a budget now, or the aid to allies or the border bill. And it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Just the things that I know about that were in planning for years and just needed finishing touches like money for training or upgrades. And thinking of the fallout. People can't even imagine. Research projects that can't progress. This is so bad.

I love how the brain helps us minimize the crap life gives us. Time really does heal. Maybe not make everything perfect. But smooth out rough edges. Make it possible to go on.

If you like Joe Biden, and think he's doing a good job, vote for him.

If you don't like him, and think he's not doing a good job, please vote for him anyway. The other guy is going to invent a new job, and you won't like how he does it.

Biden will be gone in four years, and if he fucks up, it will be fuck-ups we can fix _in our Democracy_.

If Trump wins, the problems will be here to stay, and will be much more fatal.
