Wet and drippy here this morning. Sunday special breakfast is a jalapeño bagel with bacon egg and cheese.

A cold and rainy Saturday. Woodstove is running, and we’re having comforting hot pot! One of my favorite winter meals.

Made garlic tofu with pork, and dry braised string beans. Both were winners. Hadn’t made the green beans before.

It’s sloppy Saturday! Fancy sloppy joes over mashed potatoes. I have mushrooms, celery, bell pepper, onions, garlic, ground beef and tomatoes in there. Topped with some red pepper and Parmesan.

Oh my. Our local meat guy had a special on these 2” thick bone-in ribeyes. Sous Vide at 130F then a couple minutes searing. Amazing, barely needed a knife.

And... The traditional Puppy Bowl (go team Fluff!) Smoked and grilled wings. Tomorrow, I'll watch the big game commercials.

Been sick with a head cold, so didn’t feel like eating or cooking lately.
First meal in a few days, spicy Dan Dan noodles (mild version for @rabbitroodle).

Not quite recovered from yesterday’s , I opted for hash browns two ways this morning. Looked so magical in the morning sun, had to share…

Cajun chicken Alfredo. A one pot dish from a Pioneer Woman recipe. I found the chicken distracting, will make without meat next time. Otherwise, excellent and easy!

Not the best pic, but made Dungeness crab cakes from our leftover crab, and soup dumplings to celebrate lunar New Year!

Sweet & Sour pork tonight. A bit of work to make from scratch, but worth it.

@rabbitroodle made is all her famous fluffy omelette for breakfast! Happy New Year, you crazy ‘nauts!

I just infused gin and limoncello in my fancy new chamber vacuum sealer. Took a couple minutes per beverage, and later I'll make a cocktail for the guests using both!

Took leftovers from the Xmas standing rib roast, thinly sliced, and made cheesesteaks. OMG. Best homemade cheesesteak ever!!!

One last food series before we eat only celery for a week! New (to me) method for Prime Rib Roast. Slathered in compound butter, and baked at 500 for 25 minutes, oven off, then sits in the oven for 2 hours. Perfect medium rare with crispy exterior. Oh, and some darned good Yorkshire puddings!

Everyone went out of town, so just @rabbitroodle and I tonight. Made Duck L’Orange. Turned out great! Tender duck, good balance in the sauce, not too sweet.

What’s that smell? It’s pickle soup, from Kirsten Bell’s recipe. I’ve never had it, but it sounded interesting. Wish I had a loaf of crusty bread to eat with it.

Made “quick and easy” pretzel treats for dinner with neighbors. Pretzel carmel chocolate bark, and pretzels with kisses and m&m’s. So cute!

Tofu and pork 2 ways… Mapo tofu, and steamed tofu with pork. Love this combo, totally different flavors and textures.
