@danielbsmith The slowly part is obvious. The surely part is questionable. I’ll believe it when it happens. One thing I’d put money on: Trump won’t be going to prison.
@danielbsmith He’s never going to prison.C’mon.
@kismatt Well, he needs to express that better on national TV, then.
@TheresaVermont If Kunce can work to better the lives of Missourians without handouts, more power to him! Just don’t be another Josh Hawley.
@TheresaVermont Yeah, okay. But why can’t senators use their clout to make their states less dependent on D.C.? Do Massachusetts, California, etc. get money “back” from Washington? No. It’s the states who fight the federal government tooth and nail against any reforms that would better the quality of life for their constituents that get this largesse that’s needed because of the policies that keep their constituents in perpetual need.
@051G Yup. That’s how I took it to mean.
@kismatt Yes, Kunce. I hope that’s what he meant, but it didn’t sound like that to me.
@TrueBloodNet Senators can surely tend to the financial well-being of their states. If that means using their bully pulpits to endorse changes in state laws, that’s what they should do. Kunce’s statement strikes me as a pork-barrel attitude toward the federal government. Makes him sound like a Republican.
Wow! Hawley’s opponent for senator from Missouri just said that one of the two jobs of a senator is to bring back money to the state. Really? Bring it back from where? The federal government? Shouldn’t a senator’s job be to make his state prosperous so as not to need money from D.C.? Hawley is a dick, but this guy turned me off with that comment.
On the one hand, Trump disparages soldiers wounded or killed in battle as suckers and losers. On the other hand, his campaign claims Walz resigned from the National Guard because he didn’t want to be at risk by being deployed to a combat zone. But shouldn’t Trump think Walz was being smart for doing that (he didn’t) then? Trying to have it both ways.
@danielbsmith We’ll see.
Inflation is down, crime is down, illegal border crossings are down. But according to Trump, they’re worse than ever. Even when the press calls him on that - which they seldom do - Trump calls the questions nasty and a disgrace. And the American public, never known for its acumen, doesn’t know what to think. Gotta hand it to Trump. He learned from the dictators in the past and used their tactics effectively.
So, inflation is the lowest in three years. Does that mean prices will go down? Nope. The “experts” say it won’t matter. WTF? Prices went up because of inflation, these same experts said. Ergo, they should go down when inflation goes down, right? (Scratches head.) To use an old cross-examination tactic, “Were you lying to us then or lying to us now?”
@ToolPackinMama Not a mystery at all. We’re not going to see sentencing ever, most likely, due to SCOTUS throwing a monkey wrench into every legal issue facing Trump. The judges involved will probably retire before the cases move forward, and the replacements won’t want to get involved in the quagmire. Even after the dust finally settles after Harris wins in November, everyone will say, “Who cares?” And that will be it.
@thedisasterautist The Israeli goal seems to be eliminating Gaza as a place for Palestinians to live. I doubt Hamas is even there anymore.
Whew! Never expected France would give the U.S women trouble in Olympic basketball, but they sure did. They were tenacious on defense and rebounding and forced numerous American turnovers. We were fortunate to get that one-point victory, which enabled us to tie China for number of gold medals. Next stop, LA!
