@johnldeboer Well part yes and no. States rely on federal funding for things like infrastructure that supports interstate commerce -bridges, roads, airports, train transport. States also rely on federal research money to fund universities. Aid during catastrophic events is important, too. It’s also a way to redistribute funds from wealthy states to poorer states, to lift up all Americans. It’s not a bad thing unless abused in a crony system.

@TheresaVermont Yeah, okay. But why can’t senators use their clout to make their states less dependent on D.C.? Do Massachusetts, California, etc. get money “back” from Washington? No. It’s the states who fight the federal government tooth and nail against any reforms that would better the quality of life for their constituents that get this largesse that’s needed because of the policies that keep their constituents in perpetual need.

@TheresaVermont If Kunce can work to better the lives of Missourians without handouts, more power to him! Just don’t be another Josh Hawley.
