@kay_dub Home Assistant has good options for a totally local voice assistant. I don't know much more, I use HA but haven't played with this aspect. https://www.home-assistant.io/voice_control/voice_remote_local_assistant/
@Astartiel This kind of result in NC is fairly common. NC is heavily gerrymandered, always has been and both parties do it -- GOP to a much larger extent. THAT's the conspiracy in plain sight, has been so for >30 years. Add that to abstainers, latino men, Gen Z men, who in a nutshell ate propaganda for 4+ years.
@Alfred That's a lot of words to say go for it you won't get arrested. btw they really restrict the public comment period hence the tshirt idea. Thanks!
@Alfred speak as my personal legal adviser. I'm going to attend city council meetings (as a member of the public) in a tshirt with "Don't even try that bullshit" printed on it
@Beanc What you can do to remove some of the ew factor is go get some gasoline and burn the house down and move to a different house. This has worked for me many times.
@redenigma @corlin Ain't cheap but I bought a System76 laptop mostly for their customer service, which is top notch. The OS is their Ubuntu variant and I like it as well. Don't need their hardware to run the OS of course.
@sfleetucker Yep, that's what I use, email, calendar, vpn, files.
@northernbassist Owls around me sound like a bunch of monkeys.
@band That is really helpful, especially the linked tool* and:
"we took note of two knee-jerk tendencies from the left that ended up largely being dead-ends in the face of Trump:
Public angsting — posting outrage on social media, talking with friends, sharing awful news
Symbolic actions — organizing marches and public statements

@ShellyMeyerAuthor A few large concerted propaganda campaigns by national adversaries, a decades long pillaging of the education system by the GOP, uhm, extractive capitalism. I know; it's bad. Look forward when you feel able, make a plan, act.

And, I'm going to start today. Not tomorrow, not next week. I'm going to dig in my heels. I'm going to put myself on the rosters to fill slots where they need to be filled. I'm going to help women who are trying to escape domestic violence; I'm going to fix meals for the hungry. I'm going to work at the food pantry. I'm going to give of myself because that, that's how we make a difference. I will not succumb to the lost cause factor.
