Favorite political sign so far:

“Hate will not make us great”

@TheAbbotTrithemius

Stuff it up your nose and tell me it’s not dangerous.

ITS THE MOST DANGEROUS CANDY ON THE PLANET!

🧙‍♀️👻

@TheAbbotTrithemius I'm still alive. If one has nothing to eat but paper then a few pieces of candy corn is ok.

IDK how candy corn got such a bad rap.

I mean one or even TWO (NOT THREE) peices of candy corn a year around Halloween won't hurt you...I think...right?

Interesting new piece on James Dolan in New York Magazine, the owner of Madison Square Garden in response to the rally there tonight (spoiler alert he has connections to Turdmp and Turdmp MAGA Rep Malliotakis):

So Is James Dolan a Republican or What?

According to the Daily Beast,
“Trump waited to make sure that Bezos did what he said he was going to do, and then met with the Blue Origin people,” he said on Saturday. “Which tells us that there was an actual deal made."

Ex-WaPo Editor: This Is a Straight Bezos-Trump ‘Quid Pro Quo’

Excerpt continued:

...it’s a whose-side-are-you-on moment, with sides that transcend partisan politics as most people understand the term. Bezos has rung a bell I’m not sure he can unring."

Excerpt continued:

But there’s this other crisis of trust in institutions and people, rapidly catching up with it, that’s the province of Blue America. And Bezos, seemingly on his own not a terribly political person one way or another, has with this one decision stepped right into it, probably without even realizing it. Frankly, I am myself surprised by the intensity of the reaction. But now having seen it I think it makes perfect sense.

[An inflection point for Techno-Bros billionaires maybe?]

An excerpt from a fascinating piece by Josh Marshall at TPM:

Trust, Bewilderment and Billionairedom: Understanding the Backlash Against Bezos

"We talk a lot about a crisis of public trust in America today. But when we do we’re usually talking about Red America or what we might call Disaffected America — people lack trust in the press, in elections, in scientific or expert authority and big institutions.

I share this because lots of encouraging numbers here... but always as good as these numbers are (and this is a quality poll)

VOTE VOTE VOTE !

The irony here is so thick...

Like the isolationist owners of those anti-Semitic papers from the 30s and 40s (The Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Washington TImes-Herald and the Hearst papers) that appeased Hitler. Bezos and the WaPo can now be included in the present day appeasing version of the "Newspaper Axis". Cowardly appeasing fascist Turdmp and giving him incredible power with their *anticipatory obedience*.

* Tim Snyder's term to describe societal obedience to fascism and tyranny.

WaPo book review from May 6, 2022:

The Newpaper Axis by Kathryn Olmsted

"It would be comforting to think that such irresponsible journalism is a historical relic. But the parallels with today’s right-wing media, on both sides of the Atlantic, are unavoidable: displaying apathy or sympathy toward brutal dictators (see Putin, Vladimir), deriding efforts to address legitimate threats (see pandemic, coronavirus) as schemes by liberal elites to control the population."

from Igor Sushko

The American bourgeois class is actively preparing for the contingency of a fascist dictatorship in America by staying silent - obeying in advance.

Ok, I snapped my head at this, wait, what?, the NYT ???

The NY Times Editorial Board: “Donald Trump says he will prosecute his enemies, order mass deportations, use soldiers against citizens, play politics with disasters, abandon allies. Believe him.”

Ok. I've got an extra month before I have to be out of my current apartment. So I will be moving in January, and don't have to do it over the holidays.
I could take February, too, but now that I've started getting things in motion, I want to get it done.
