Pachelbel's Canon is one of the most hackneyed classical pieces, schlocked to death by syrupy modern performances totally alien to its original style and context.

But played as it was intended to be played on the kinds of instruments Pachelbel knew, it's a totally different piece - i.e., the one Pachelbel actually wrote and the one that was originally admired.

My only response - for now - to the latest McConnell mini-seizure (or whatever exactly it is) is that he needs a full medical workup and a transparent diagnosis - for his own sake, for his constituents, and for the country.

It's entirely possible this is something that should lead to resignation. But first, there has to be information. If it's something treatable or manageable for now, fine. But it's happened at least twice now, and there have to be answers.

Well, Rudy's stall tactics have collapsed. His refusal to turn over discovery materials and then his "I admit I was wrong but not really so the case is moot but I don't have to pay any damages" filings have worn out the judge. She's ruled that he is de facto liable and that the jury will only determine damages.

She added that he can still reverse this and get a normal trial if he complies with all the orders - but he's not going to do that.

I've noticed many times that hurricanes often make landfall slightly weaker than the predictions said.

With Idalia it was the opposite. Not only were the dire Cat 3 predictions accurate, it was *barely* short of Cat 4 when it made landfall (125 mph; Cat 4 starts at 130).

That's what happens when a storm moves over bathwater-temperature Gulf waters.

While Fox hosts sneer "If there were climate change, storms would be getting WORSE!"

This latest conspiracy theory is one of the dumbest yet. If such emails exist, they obviously weren't created to evade detection, as one would - with burner phones, secret servers etc. - if acting nefariously. Because then they *wouldn't be included in the National Archives!*

I mean, the right-wing rant is "this MUST be where Biden hid his corrupt dealings and ran the global crime operation through Hunter!"

And then he included it all in his official papers?

Worth emphasizing again that judge Jones (an Obama appointee) has said removal has a low bar - precisely because it doesn't have dramatic implications for the prosecution.

But what Meadows really wants is *immunity* from prosecution. Jones's query here shows that he is considering removal, but immunity isn't going to happen.

Something that seems to have been widely forgotten in the wake of Prigozhin's death: in addition to his war crimes in Ukraine, Africa and beyond, he was also at the center of Russia's troll campaigns to interfere in US elections - one of his "business enterprises."

Oh, I deeply trust the site already swarming with Musk-protected lies, distortions, and abuse to create "election teams"... to promote whoever Elon tells them to promote.

Encouraging distracted driving is actually a *bad* thing, Elon.

So the judge in the Meadows removal matter - an Obama appointee - was openly skeptical of Meadows's claims to have been acting officially... but indicated removal was still a possibility because *the bar for getting such a move is low.*

IOW because it doesn't profoundly alter the prosecution.

Which hasn't stopped the media from frantically playing it up as "THE MOMENT THAT COULD NULLIFY ALL LIABILITY FOR !"

They're better than in '16, but nowhere near good enough.

From CNN:

I. HATE. MISPLACED. MODIFIERS.

This headline does NOT say what CBS News editors seem to think it says. Don't proofreaders actually read anymore?

Mysterious box that turns out to have nothing in it but dust.

Um, no. He wasn't "thrust into the spotlight." As a character in Quiz Show says, he had to be dragged away from the spotlight with his teeth marks still on it.

The entire Obama confrontation was a cynical setup. He wasn't a plumber, the injury he claimed was made up, and he frantically parlayed it into national R adulation - which many pundits hysterically claimed would swing the election to McCain.

Strengths and stupidities of the media in one snapshot.

The story is good - it debunks the NY Post/Trump lie from the first sentence. But the headline, as displayed on the webpage, makes it sound like the claim is credible - when the whole point of the article is the opposite.

That doesn't mean of course that there's nothing to watch in the hearing. But it does mean the judge is going to follow the law, not the political needs of the Trump campaign... and that Meadows would need to have a VERY strong, legitimate case to prevail.

I can't help but notice that as the media plays up the hearing on Meadows's demand to remove his case to federal court (on the grounds that overthrowing GA's election results was part of his job as WH COS), most reports are carefully avoiding any reference to the judge, other than as "a federal judge."

Is that because they know saying he's an Obama appointee and not an R stooge will undercut the drama?
