@RationalLeft It still boggles me that we can be in the midst of multiple observable existential crises, backed up by data even, and there will be people focusing their attention on these beliefs about chemtrails, or flouride in the water, or other claptrap.

Sometimes I wonder if it is a defense mechanism. The real horrors can't get you if you're busy with the secret danger that deep down, one knows is fake.

@AskTheDevil Yes, I think it is a kind of defense mechanism. Conspiracy theories are a way to give order to the disordered. Things don't *just happen,* they're all planned, and all badness has to have been imposed.
