So Dad went to Urgent care about his back. It looks like his parkinson's is over straining his back.

The Doc gave him a muscle relaxer and we're hoping that's going to get him some relief. the pain started to creep up to his shoulder blade, across his back today.

I'm grateful he was able to get seen.

I have felt low energy and lethargic all day, to the point I was falling asleep on the couch earlier.

Gym was brutal today too.

CoSo? Just a caring reminder that you do not have to immerse yourself in the details of other people's trauma in order to be empathic and helpful to them.

Sometimes folks think they need to fully see and engage with traumatic content--but this can be a barrier to effective helping when the time for helping comes.

So please, know yourself and act accordingly.

This isn't to discourage folks from being aware and informed--but be discerning regarding the degree.

@LnzyHou @wolfwoman @AskTheDevil @Smccune55 I know Wolfwoman and have met her personally. She's the kind of soul that will drive 3 hours just to chat.

I also feel like I've gotten to know you pretty well. In my opinion you've only gotten better with time. I didn't know you then, but I know you now and it's a true privilege.

I can say the same about @Vozy There are many good boomers in the world!

"we see the things themselves, in their places, where they are,

according to their being which is indeed more than their being perceived,

at the same time we are separated from them by all the thickness of the look and of the body;

this distance is not the contrary of this proximity, it is deeply consonant with it,

the thickness of flesh between the seer and the thing is constitutive for the thing of it visibility,

it is not an obstacle between them,

it is their means of communication."

I watch a lot of youtube and listen to a lot of music, but something that has intrigued me as I've visited my parents is how the TV is always on, and often on the news.

Dad will be on his ipad, Mom on her phone, with the news, or GMA or Today playing constantly in the background.

As someone that normally spends time in quiet, or with curated content, it's like a culture shock, and somewhat distracting.

I believe that people tend to develop pararelationships with political figures that they believe our on their side.

They then ascribe loyalties and qualities to them based on them feeling like they have a personal connection.

Pararelationships are not healthy relationships. They are imaginary and one-sided.

OK, I'm gonna put this out in small bits as I learn. This has a LOT of info & although I didn't see the fb meme, I recall reading about all of these claims. And I'm going to hashtag now :)

I am having one of those days where I'm constantly hungry.

The lack of compassion is both disconcerting and shocking.

My Dad is in terrible back pain. He has spinal stensosis, and 2 slipped discs. HIs Parkinsons keeps him moving so he's jarring his back over and over again

He had an visit with a pain doc for the first time in 2 years scheduled for Monday, but he just got a call. Since this visit is on his medicaid, and not the VA, they cancelled his appointment.

My Mom tried to help explain, she was told "I'm talking to Him, not you"

She finally said the doctor must be paid, and cancelled his appointment.
