Hey COSO,

While you had your head in the sand this week, guess what?

BLACK FRIDAY IS COMING...

Do your part in the USA to become the capitalistic consumer our billionaires count on us to be.

@Lindy

You and I can have a special gift sharing...

hehehe

@Madken65 Ah. Is that it? You haven't put on your filters yet?

@Lindy

I think so, this time of the day, I'm still out there casting nets to see what I catch.

hehehe

@Lindy

Please adjust for time zone differences...just sayin

@Madken65 If I can remember your time zone. It's relatively early here and I just took my first sip of coffee.

@Madken65

Our tradition is to go watch the sunrise over the ocean and go for a long walk/hike that day 💛😊

Decided many years ago that was the way for us ✨

@Minholkin

When we lived in Delaware, we were right down the street from the Walmart store.

Traffic would start about 0200 and continue through sunrise.

It was maddening, said the dude whose last name is Madden.

@Minholkin @Madken65
..But surely that doesn't make her last name Sicken?🤔

Also, sunrise over the ocean. 😍

@Madken65 @Minholkin
The closely thing to consumerism I do on Thanksgiving is the food I have purchase to cook or possibly the fam finds a movie and goes to a late matinee. 🚫🛍️🛒

@Madken65 I consider Black Friday a Blessing. My daughter's birthday is this Thursday. Usually it lands around this holiday. I take her Birthday present shopping.. time for the two of us have together. I look forward to it every year. 😊

@MrsE0113

And tell your kids Hi from me and the Mikster...Glad your daughter ended up in education.

@Madken65 I worked 10 years in retail. I go out of my way to avoid buying on Black Friday. Exceptions would be groceries since get paid on Fridays and don’t always have enough to stockpile so need to pick up some staples when I cash my check. But I avoid even that if I’m able.

We don’t need as much as we think we need, and I struggle with that because I’m a stockpiler. I get anxious if I don’t have extra stockpiled away. But I still try to avoid purchases on Black Friday.

@cjcrew @Madken65 I hate going to the stores in those days, we are in the same situation, our resources are limited but we have been buying little by little in case of an emergency.

@Jorro @Madken65 I do try to shop at the local family owned supermarket in town if I have to pick something up but being a small store they don’t always have what I need. HyVee is my next choice, if they don’t have it I may do without because all that’s left around here is Dollar General and Wally World (aka Walmart).

@cjcrew @Madken65 I feel ashamed that my favorite store is Walmart .🤣🤣🤣

@Jorro @Madken65 Don’t, I used to love Walmart. It was my favorite place to take my VISA for a walk.

@cjcrew @Madken65 I don’t spend a lot but I can find everything or almost everything in one place , that saves me time .

@Jorro @Madken65 We have a nice but small supermarket and across the street from that is a Dollar General. There are also a couple tiny, family owned, Mexican stores and restaurants on the main street of downtown which is a couple blocks from my house. So if I needed to I can walk to the grocery store. I just can’t buy frozen items in the summer.

@cjcrew @Madken65 we have variety here too , lately we have been going to a small market to buy cooked food so my wife won’t cook on the weekend.

@Jorro @Madken65 I like buying at smaller businesses. You get some pretty good stuff and they make some money to help pay the bills. Billionaires get nothing. As it should be.

@cjcrew @Madken65 true !!! At least you can talk to people there .

@Jorro @Madken65 Well let’s not get crazy about it. Interact with humans? Scary.

@Jorro @Madken65 To shop at Walmart I have to drive 15-29 minutes to get there, park 3 miles (yes exaggerated) from the door then walk through 20 miles of stuff I’m not interested in to get to the groceries. I’ll pay extra to shop at the store 4 blocks from my home with the most excellent deli and most of what I need. I admit to still getting my paper goods at the Dollar General but I’m weaning away from them as well after seeing the John Oliver show about how they treat their employees.

@cjcrew @Madken65 yes the parking lot is a pain in the butt , that is the thing I hate the most .

@Jorro @Madken65 It’s not so bad if the temps aren’t freeze your lungs cold or fry your brain hot. I now try to park a decent distance from the doors unless I’m in pain that day. It’s not really worth trying. It saves on my stress levels and gets me extra steps if I just park at the end of one of the lanes.

@cjcrew @Madken65 I park far too , there is no sense in driving around until you see someone leaving.

@Jorro @Madken65 Especially when there are at least ten other cars driving around waiting for someone to leave. I had 25 years of that working at MSU. Parking was the bane of our existence there. Five parking spaces, 45,000 student plus thousands of employees. Let the games begin!

@cjcrew @Madken65 yes, you never know and with the new administration it doesn’t look good .

@Jorro @Madken65 They scare the hell out of me, mainly because they are stone cold ignorant of basic science and so damn proud of that fact. Ignorance happens but it’s not something to be proud of. It’s something that needs to be fixed.

@Jorro @Madken65 The upcoming generation gives me hope. My nieces are on it.

@cjcrew @Madken65 yes, and what just happened in this last election will wake up people, I hope !!
