Hey COSO,
While you had your head in the sand this week, guess what?
BLACK FRIDAY IS COMING...
Do your part in the USA to become the capitalistic consumer our billionaires count on us to be.
@Madken65 I worked 10 years in retail. I go out of my way to avoid buying on Black Friday. Exceptions would be groceries since get paid on Fridays and don’t always have enough to stockpile so need to pick up some staples when I cash my check. But I avoid even that if I’m able.
We don’t need as much as we think we need, and I struggle with that because I’m a stockpiler. I get anxious if I don’t have extra stockpiled away. But I still try to avoid purchases on Black Friday.
@Jorro @Madken65 I do try to shop at the local family owned supermarket in town if I have to pick something up but being a small store they don’t always have what I need. HyVee is my next choice, if they don’t have it I may do without because all that’s left around here is Dollar General and Wally World (aka Walmart).
@Jorro @Madken65 To shop at Walmart I have to drive 15-29 minutes to get there, park 3 miles (yes exaggerated) from the door then walk through 20 miles of stuff I’m not interested in to get to the groceries. I’ll pay extra to shop at the store 4 blocks from my home with the most excellent deli and most of what I need. I admit to still getting my paper goods at the Dollar General but I’m weaning away from them as well after seeing the John Oliver show about how they treat their employees.
@Jorro @Madken65 It’s not so bad if the temps aren’t freeze your lungs cold or fry your brain hot. I now try to park a decent distance from the doors unless I’m in pain that day. It’s not really worth trying. It saves on my stress levels and gets me extra steps if I just park at the end of one of the lanes.
@cjcrew @Madken65 yes the parking lot is a pain in the butt , that is the thing I hate the most .
