I hate that rap from the late 80s gets over shadowed due to the genre becoming a mainstream commodity during the 90s.
Just look at the outfits and style Big Daddy Kane was sporting back then. I'd club an animated baby seal to look that smooth for a day or two.
Kane's influence on future rappers is undeniable.

AC-DC started getting popular in the late 70s. Metallica in the early 80s.
There was a Beavis and Butt-Head movie released recently, but their shirts didn't change. Using this time frame of roughly 15ish years ago from the date of this post), so late 2000s, which band would be on 2022's Beavis's and Butt-Head 's shirts.

Your periodic reminder that for all the disdain electronic music can get, few songs can match (Finished) Symphony by Hybrid (1996?!!).
It's just a masterclass in playing with a similar structure and subverting expectations until the payoff at 7:15ish.
All these years later, it's not much that can stand shoulder to shoulder with this monumental track.
If you have any interest in electronic music and have never heard this, do yourself a favor and fix that.

My God, I forgot just how good the audio/visual combination was. The animated sequence is just as well done as the song, which is saying something.
