Welp we just stumbled into a #HobyrimSongStorm.
Haven't had a good once since the pandemic. Just gonna go through and post some crate digging songs and/or covers that make me happy. Enjoy the ride for a while.
Ain't No Body (cover) - The Main Source
Kamakazi by Cashmere P is raw and amazing. This is bleeding edge rap that I bet you that you could fool people into thinking it came out in the golden age of the early to mid 90s.
None of that mumble rap here, just one of those classic NYC beats and lyricism. Take a chance on this one, it's that good!
Cashmere P - Kamakazi - Seven Bakin (2023) - Only on Bandcamp as of 9/10/2023
#cosomusic #hip-hop
I want to see if I have a blind spot, if this is a problem with just the Hip-hop/RnB space, or a trend in music overall.
Can you name me and 3 love songs that were released in the last 6 months?
Not jilted lover songs, not let's bang just because we can songs, but actual love songs.
I might spend too long posting if I go all in on #trollsplatplaylist so one last one.
Explicit lyrics warning (since it's more than just the F bomb)
Go to Sleep - Eminem/Obie Trice/DMX
A personal favorite with just the right amount of F bombs for the #trollsplatplaylist
Williston - Go the Fuck Away
A top tier summer song. Get your day going right.
Calvin Harris f. Migos - Slide
Ain't Leaving Without You by Jaheim is one of the all time great cookout songs and I'll go to the grave defending it as such.
I blame @misslovelymess for getting this stuck in my head this morning.
Way too early to rocking out to the banger from Kaytranada.
Start your day with something really weird.
Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, but every instrument is a spring door stopper.
This song goes so effin hard. I couldn't believe it was Fallout Boy when I first heard it.
There are some really creative rythyms in the vocals that elevate this from "just another pop song" to something special.
Music can bring people together like no other. All it takes is a good teacher and willingness to try.
The music is already in you, try not to be so self-conscious and let it out.
This song is just on my mind today for some reason.
Crank the sub up and go back almost 30 years to this classic.
Scatman - Scatman John - Scatman's World (1995)
If there's is one music link you click on from me this year (heck ever) let this be it.
I could make easily 19 more posts about how amazing this song is, but the Corey's vocals are outstanding, the ending guitar solo is epic, the opening violin solo is inspiring, the drum work is phenomenal, and the bass work is so perfect.
This song is something special. If you aren't about the violin intro skip to about 3 min in.
Sun Goes Down (Live) - Main Source
Enjoy an absolute gem of a cover of Sex Machine. Any additional words I use won't do this justice.
Sex Machine - Main Source (originally by James Brown) - 2021
And now you'll never be able not think of the two together.
Michael Jackson (f. Toto as the backing band 😅) - Human Nature - Thriller
Listen to Africa first and then Human Nature and you'll hear it even if you don't believe it. You'll hear it in the syncopation and patterns. You'll hear it in the little things.
Africa - Toto
Did you know that's Toto, yes *that* Toto, was the backing band in Michael Jackson's Thriller album?
I'm really not kidding here.
It's not payday yet and it's a week and a half until Christmas?
Yep, Louis Cole knows what's up.
Bank Account - Louis Cole
#cosomusic
You didn't know you wanted to hear a talented South African dude (who sounds an awful lot like Jaheim) singing over some deep house?
Well you do. This is one of my favorite deep cuts of the year.
It's that good.
Sweet Nothings (Extended Mix) - Rhey Osborne (2022)
USMC Vet and dad. Sarcastic with a side of sweet and sour sauce.
