Very disappointed in MSNBC for canceling Mehdi Hasan, Ali Velshi and Ayman Mohyeldin
@VelvetDuchess Two current MSNBC weekend hosts will be losing their hours: Mehdi Hasan, who will give up his 8 p.m. Sunday show and become a political analyst and fill-in anchor; and Yasmin Vossoughian, who will depart her weekend afternoon hours and shift to a national reporter and fill-in anchor role.
Ayman Mohyeldin will move to 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday;
The programs hosted by Ali Velshi, Jen Psaki, Al Sharpton, and Richard Lui will remain in their current timeslots.
Mehdi Hassan is an absolute favorite of mine. He actually says things I think. This is bad.
@Ch3fchr1sto That's a shame about Mehdi. He excelled at holding the authoritarians' feet to the fire. @VelvetDuchess
@FinnegansWhacked I stopped paying any attention to news channels 25 years ago when I arrived back in the USA.
They exist to provide glib and defective views of current events. There is no useful content, and we have (as Garry Kasparov keeps pointing out) entered the post-truth era, where facts have been squeezed out in favour of flooding the zone with shit.
Amusing ourselves to death? More like amusing ourselves into a pomo neofeudalist epistemic bubble. The 24hr cable news cycle and its dependence on RATINGS! and CLICKS! prioritizes bullshit and disinfo over news, analysis, and context.
How else did we end up with a fraudulent "reality show" host as president?
@FinnegansWhacked I think…I really hope…it was just Medhi that lost his shows. He’ll be missed!!
I’d turn MSNBC off forever if they dropped Ali or Ayman.

@FinnegansWhacked I knew about Medhi Hasan but Ali Velshi and Aymam Mohyeldin?
Ali Velshi is and Icon love him.
