I don’t know what they teach in school. Even people trying to be healthy have no idea what they don’t know. I’ll hear someone describe their diet and I’ll ask where they get their protein, and they’ll say, “I eat greens.”

AFAIK you can’t buy candy with SNAP benefits, but it could be state by state, or the clerk may have let it slide if they aren’t scanning purchase bar codes.
Soda is more difficult. Nonwhite people are predominantly lactose intolerant, so beverages are limited.
It’s hard to get cheaper calories to fill you up than corn syrup and soybean oil though.

This news has been out a long time, but only Democrats are hearing about it. They need to get it in front of Republicans in such a way that Gaetz won't recover. A released report won't do that, because people won't read it any more than they read the Mueller report.
There is a strange dance they do in the legislature to box in the other party. Jeffries probably is trying to play his hand effectively. If the GOP doesn't release it now, it will come out during Senate confirmation hearings instead and get much more publicity.

Yeah, this makes a lot. But the flavor is reminiscent of the sweet-sour imli (tamarind) chutney, so it's really good anytime.

It's almost as if the people who staged the futile but outrage-invoking invasion on Oct 7 and the people who told American Muslims that supporting Trump was good for Palestine are the same people, and that they're more interested in making the Palestinian people into useful martyrs to use for fundraising and recruiting, rather than actually wanting them to live in peace and prosperity.
Toast cumin seeds in a dry saucepan until they begin to brown.
Pour in water, then remaining ingredients.
Bring to boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce to simmer over low heat until cranberries start to pop, 5-7 min.
Transfer to a jar, cool and then refrigerate at least a day before serving. Keep refrigerated.
If you want something different for US Thanksgiving (or anytime):
Cranberry Chutney
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
4 cups fresh cranberries
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp minced fresh ginger root
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp ground coriander

Happened to hear part of BBC Newshour on the radio today. Tim Franks was seriously sanewashing Trump. It was surprising how slanted it was. Trump supporters were able to spout their talking points, but the one Republican who was not a Trump supporter couldn't get a word in because he kept talking over her, saying voters wanted what Trump is delivering.
