Was just going through some images looking for something, and this delightful reminder of better times popped up.

Imagine relying on a space to differentiate your brand in this day and age. The Montreal Alouettes should've called themselves 'Les Roughrideurs' TBH. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Someone tooted the other day about a guy who claimed to have voted for T**** because America was the laughingstock of the world under Biden.

I thought that was a pretty flimsy reason then because America absolutely wasn't the laughingstock of the world under Biden at all.

Now, however...

Then -> Now

The tideโ€™s further out today, but you can see that the sand is finally starting to come after being washed away by the โ€œunusualโ€œ storm activity (translation: new paradigm caused by climate change) this winter. It was โ€œunusualโ€ alright. Iโ€™ve never seen that happen.

The sandโ€™s covered up the rocks at the base of the stairs, and the beach is staring to look like itโ€™s looked for the 25+ years Iโ€™ve lived here.

This clip jolts me every time: Put aside the bald head, and the mannerisms and facial expressions are just so similar...

*Raises fist to sky*

DAMN YOU COLDPL--

Wait! What? It's just another excuse from a company in a duopoly using its power to rip people off?

As you were.

Yes...well... If only there were some person who was empowered to do something about it. Someone like, I dunno, a king or something who's literally the head of the C-of-E ๐Ÿค”

He wouldn't even have to mutter, "Who will rid me of this troublesome priest?" like one of his ancestors did because a later ancestor wanted a divorce that the Pope wouldn't give him and took care of that troublesome wrinkle. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

These supermarket board members/executives are mostly pretty mediocre dudes, but all have one exceptional quality: utter, utter shamelessness.

They're public companies, so we can see their profits and the way they use accounting tricks to make it look like they're not profiteering off customers and farmers quite as ruthlessly as they are, yet they spew this nonsense.

As long as shareholders get their dividends, they get their bonuses, and that's all that matters.

There was a thoughtful article in the paper this morning about how T****'s election and idiocy probably won't do much damage to Australia's economy.

I remarked to my mate that, while that's probably correct, it wasn't my biggest worry.

Now, just like clockwork, the worst among us show that they've learned how to exploit a bigger worry about it.

Note: This odious cretin occupies a seat that was essentially bought for him for $120 Million by an equally odious mining billionaire.

Since itโ€™s drizzly out and I have to stay in to work this arvo anyway, I thought I might do a bit of therapy/comfort cooking because it feels like I need that.

So Iโ€™m making Irish Stew! โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Not that he had many to spare in the first place, but I think Winston Peters is losing his marbles. I guess he thinks he sounds tough to his Kiwi supporters, but Ned Kelly was a thief and murderer who was hanged 144 years ago, so he just sounds like an idiot.

Also, FWIW no one here gives even the smallest ๐Ÿ’ฉ what Winston Peters thinks, or has ever thought, about anything.

"Prince William says he wants to carry out duties with a smaller โ€˜rโ€™ in the โ€˜royalโ€™

Prince of Wales says he wants to approach engagements differently and to focus on helping people"

The big parties control the government and they can't even keep their workplace safe.

Happy to give themselves pay rises, to work harder on finding ways to keep Independents from winning seats than on anything else, and to refuse to make their own corrupt behaviour illegal though.

What a great bunch of (mostly) blokes. ๐Ÿ™„

Reason why I never read anything marked "Opinion" in the newspaper #86,548,279,631:

This person is one of the 'conservative' OpEd-ers in my local paper, and she never fails to come up with weird binaries like this.

People like her (special mention to Bret Stephens in the NYT) are so high on their own supply that they think their views are important and don't realise that they're only being paid to write nonsense that makes readers mad.

Iโ€™m a sucker for Spielberg because itโ€™s good shit.

Saving Private Ryanโ€™s on the movie channel, itโ€™s 1:11 am, and there are 2 hours to go.

Hanks FTW.

Theyโ€™re playing a show by The Quincy Jones Big Band tonight, and itโ€™s wonderful, just like everything Quincy touched.

Anthony Bourdain in Congo.

He was so good at getting to the crux of what was going on. RIP ๐Ÿฅบ
