Effing passwords
And yes, I do remember my childhood phone number thank you.

@CinnamonGirlE

Stopped being mine when I was 17 & moved out the day after high school graduation.

@CinnamonGirlE One upper case, a lower case, a special character, a number. Now go write it down with a pen in your spiral notebook. I just had to do this for an NCAA bracket, it's just for fun CBS !!!

@MidnightRider
I have a very complicated and somewhat varying password. It's exhausting.

@CinnamonGirlE These same "protectors of your life" get hacked by China anyhow, see also Roku.

@MidnightRider
I am constantly being monitored anyway through my phone it seems.

@CinnamonGirlE The NSA knows what your favorite cookie is, we just like pretend security, like the Coyote and cocktail umbrellas.

@MidnightRider
Something I was discussing on the phone earlier just showed up in my IG feed. Hmmmmm. . .

@CinnamonGirlE Posting those record covers made Ebay start sending them to me, you want this??

@MidnightRider
Maybe they will at least send some good suggestions. Sometimes it is helpful 😂

@CinnamonGirlE That would be good, they send the ones I posted, not useful.

@CinnamonGirlE Well I left that area 40 years ago so I guess I'm good.

@CinnamonGirlE childhood phone number?? do not remember!!!

My master password for the password manager, I remember!!! Password manager remembers my passwords and suggests strong passwords for new sites!!!

@CinnamonGirlE My mom lived to the age of 92 and she still had the same phone number we had when I was little. No problem remembering that one.

@CinnamonGirlE Same phone# now at 65 that I had as a kid. Managed to take over the number when we sold Mom's house and we bought a small fixer-upper in town. Not technically permitted, but we managed it. Except back then we only had to use 4 digits as opposed to 10 now.

@CinnamonGirlE I don't remember the very first one, but I remember the three after that, from age 9 to 18.

@CinnamonGirlE

352-6034
914-352-6034
845-352-6034

They added an area code in 1947, one of the first in the nation but nobody needed to use it when we were kids. They split 914 up into many different areas codes around the year 2000. My dad, who moved from NY to FL in 2014 still keeps a MagicJack "landline" with an 845 area code.

@CinnamonGirlE in July I'm moving with my family to Spain for a year. Maintaining our current US mobile numbers is going to be a challenge.

@hallmarc @CinnamonGirlE

Why must you? Can’t you forward the old # into new phone?

@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE yes but I need to pay to maintain my original number or port it. I can't port it to a Spanish carrier. I'm looking into Google Voice.

@hallmarc
I just changed carriers. A little of a bumpy process,
But entirely different from what you are talking about. I wish you the best of luck. And I look forward to hearing about and seeing Spain.

@hallmarc @CinnamonGirlE Look into WhatsApp. Lots of the rest of the world runs on it. Use your current phone anywhere there is internet, so long as your recipient also has WhatsApp.
I might also suggest getting an e-SIM card. As long as your phone isn't too old, you can download a second e-SIM card local to Spain to your phone, and switch between the two SIM cards as needed.
Best wishes! Moving to Spain for a year sounds fantastic!!

@Superstitionsee @CinnamonGirlE thanks! Yes, I currently have a Pixel 8 and I used esims the past two summers in Spain. The trick is that I have to either pay to maintain the number or port it and park it. But I also need to be able to receive SMS at that number sometimes for MFA or phone verification. If I use both a US and Spanish ESIM, I'll have to pay some US carrier for service whenever I'm away from WiFi. I might port it to Google Voice... we'll see.

@hallmarc @CinnamonGirlE Please post when you figure it out. 😃
We'll soon be living half the year out of the country, and I'm open to any technology that works, or idea that will save us some cash.

@CinnamonGirlE

Sadly, this old girl doesn't even remember her childhood phone number! Heck, I barely remember what I had for dinner yesterday! 🤣

@CinnamonGirlE

I wished I could remember my childhood phone number. It might be 867-5309! Don't recall the area code! 🤣🤣🤣

@Spagesgallo1
I bet that is it! Hey, I think I must have called you, because I recognize that number! 😂 🤣

@CinnamonGirlE

LMAO! Was that you? Only phone number I remember! I had it on the wall! 😆 Can you imagine how many people actually dialed that phone number?
🤣

@Spagesgallo1 @CinnamonGirlE I know the area code cuz it was a word coded number but I don't want to try to remember it cuz my crazy brain would then forget my current number. Lol

@TrueBloodNet @CinnamonGirlE

No worries! Totally understand! I'm lucky to remember my husband's cell phone number. Cell phones have definitely deleted my long term memory for phone numbers. 😥

@Spagesgallo1 @CinnamonGirlE lol I could not get a SS account bcuz they wanted me to pick out a number I had for 2 months on Skype 15 years earlier.

@TrueBloodNet @CinnamonGirlE

Omg! That is insane! Social Security can be a bit over the top with some things, that being one of them! I hope you were able to resolve that issue.

@Spagesgallo1 @CinnamonGirlE I have to use a government verification service. It's free at least.

@TrueBloodNet @CinnamonGirlE

As long as you can now access your account and its free, sounds like a good outcome.

@TrueBloodNet @CinnamonGirlE

I can't even imagine! Working with the government...I can't imagine how long it took to resolve the issue.

@CinnamonGirlE Oddly I dont remember our number but reading this remembered my grandma's. Which makes sense and a kid we all know grandmas can fix anything.

@Lucky188
I adore that you remember your Grandmas. I am now trying to remember my grandmas. I know its in there still, just covered up by so much other junk.

@CinnamonGirlE

So I was sure I didn't and then I knew it clear as day. 🤔
