Lost a longtime friend tonight of decades because she felt it necessary after I expressed fear for my trans child here in NC to tell me her MAGA cousin sent her supplies, but she's not THAT KIND of MAGA, and I called out the white cis het privilege wrapped up in that declaration while I try to figure out where my kids won't be persecuted as heinously.
And here's where I differ-
I'm fine with that.
@Shelter Ugh, I'm so sorry. I hope that you can get your family out of there. I have a couple friends in the SC and NC areas that are working towards fleeing the state to safer states like Delaware and Illinois.
Sending 16 to UNC Wilmington for college, hopefully, so he's within easy driving distance and then after college I told him to head to NJ right outside of Philadelphia, where I grew up, because NJ is a Sanctuary State.
@Shelter Michigan is "trying" to push for Sanctuary status, but there's a lot of repugs that are pushing against anything in regards to safeguarding the population here.
@Shelter It's safe here, but we aren't sure for how long if Gretchen loses office.
Every time someone wants Gretchen to run against Biden to primary him I'm like oh I see. You don't give a fuck about Michigan OR the country.
@Shelter Naw, she is NEEDED in michigan, she's the single most outspoken, and forward progressing politicians in governors seat in the last 25-35+ years. She's fighting for us, and doing the best she can against tremendous opposition right now.
She's an incredible badass and people need to support keeping her right there where she's absolutely crucial for now.
@Shelter A person who's willing to excuse those who deny the humanity of others (what is even "not that kind of MAGA?" They only kinda believe in QAnon? They're only racist but not transphobes? 🙄 ) isn't someone one could feel safe around, I think.
I hope you find a safe spot, or the climate changes in NC. Or hopefully both.

@Shelter Each person has their own path in life to walk and we just have to take the time that we get with the people that cross our path be it a short time or a long time. it seems it was your time to diverge in paths.
