Women in African Traditional Religions
FRIDAY M. MBON

There is a certain relation between any religious unit and its power to direct the movement of its most precious human resource, women.... [E]ven though religion in Africa is principally a man's affair, its reason for being is woman, gaurdian of life and link between the living and the dead, between the past and the future.

-Dominique Zahan

So let us lift our voices high,
To praise the One who lights the sky.
With grateful hearts and spirits bright,
We walk in faith, in love's pure light.

Sunday's song, a melody divine,
Guides us on this path of time.
In unity, we stand as one,
In the light of Sunday's sun.

In the quiet dawn of Sunday's grace,
A sacred time, a sacred space.
The world awakes with whispered hymns,
As sunlight dances on earth's brims.

Each moment holds a sacred thread,
Connecting hearts, the living, the dead.
In unity, we find our strength,
In love's embrace, we go to lengths.

Through trials faced and battles won,
Our journey's course is never done.
For in this day of Sabbath rest,
We find renewal, we are blessed.

Let them label me non-graceful, if they must,
But I'll cherish my emotions, honor my trust.
For what is grace, if it lacks sincerity?
Just a hollow shell, devoid of clarity.

So let me be known, not for a stoic face,
But for the courage to feel, with each embrace.
For true grace lies not in a mask we wear,
But in the depths of our hearts, honest and rare.

In the realm of grace, they say we dwell,
A serene facade, emotions we quell.
But must we wear masks, devoid of all?
To be seen as graceful, must we stand tall?

For I'd rather be true, with emotions in sight,
Than hide behind curtains, veiling the light.
To feel deeply, to express, to be free,
Is far more graceful, don't you agree?

If someone you feel hurt by approaches you today or soon, give yourself another chance to listen with an open mind and reassess the situation.
